WRAL covered the Wilmington film scene yesterday. Here’s the story. A little disappointed in the title as film is still alive and most of the media reports like it already died. Frustrating! Yesterday, the Senate did what we figured. They reconvened just to adjourn. Nothing was taken up. Looks like the House will do the same this afternoon. Film is still very much alive. I will keep you posted if anything changes.
With Goolsby’s resignation, it’s interesting to see Michael Lee putting FILM first in his statement. Convenient, I’d say. Truthful? We shall see, won’t we?
In an article from WWAY, Lee says, “No matter what happens over the coming weeks, there will still be an election on November 4th, and I look forward to speaking with the voters of the 9th District about strengthening the film tax credit, improving education, investing in infrastructure and bringing jobs to New Hanover County,” he said. From what I am hearing, his is very pro-film incentive (hearing that from folks not articles). Now, will he take Goolsby’s seat before the election? The New Hanover GOP Executive Committee meets next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss who will replace Goolsby’s. County party chair Sam Ibrahim says Michael Lee will be one of the few names being considered. Who else is in the mix? Ibrahim said, “The executive committee will nominate from the floor.” So, I guess we shall tune in Tuesday and find out.
I know many of you keep shouting Elizabeth, however, don’t forget she is a Democrat, so if she is your gal, you’re gonna have to wait until the polls are open later this year.
