THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 05/16/2014 Legislative Day, Eastbound and Down, Full Belly Project

NCFilmRally050414_0125FILM INDUSTRY DAY @ THE NC LEGISLATURE is June 4, 2014 from 9am to 1pm.  This is not a rally, rather a one on one discussion with some legislators.  The most important people that need to attend this special day in Raleigh are the SMALL BUSINESSES who do business with the film industry.  It is important to let those legislators know what would happen to you, your family, your employees and your business if the film industry went away.  We need to let them know it is not just about crew jobs,  but it is also about our community. If you are a small business that benefits from the industry being here,  please email NCFilmDay@gmail.com  Please, pass this on to all the small business friends you know.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 11/05/2013 Under the Dome on DVD, Marilyn Manson, Nick Nolte, Robert Redford, Sleepy Hollow and more.

Robert RedfordAbout five years ago (maybe more), North Carolina got very excited about the film adaptation of Bill Bryson’s best-selling memoir, A Walk in the Woods. It was going to star Paul Newman and Jack Nicholson.  Newman was a little apprehensive about signing on.  According to a source, he said if he need the use of cue cards, he would not do the film.  Not much longer after that, the beloved philanthropist, took a turn for the worst and passed away.  All hope for the movie to be made was lost.  Skipping ahead to today, there is not only hope for the flick to rev up again, but two actors have recently signed on to the project. Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. According to NickNolteDeadline.com, the film is a road-trip comedy about an aging travel writer who decides to hike the 2,000-mile Appalachian Trail, accompanied by a long-estranged high school buddy he’s been avoiding for years. Along the way, the duo face off with each other, nature and an eccentric assortment of characters only to discover that some roads are better left untraveled.   Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno) is set to direct.  It is aiming for a March start and a release date of December 4, 2014.  Although we probably will never see it here in Wilmington, hopefully the mid to western part of NC will hopefully see its return!
tscc3 I gotta thank Jody Hill and Danny McBride for giving our local skating center some love, as they kept the real name of the business, Jellybeans.  If you caught Danny McBride on Jimmy Kimmel, he talked about Marilyn Manson being here in Wilmywood, doing a scene for Eastbound and Down.  And if you don’t have the premium channel, you might have missed his rolling cameo on HBO.  Check it out.

SH_HeadlessIt was great to have Sleepy Hollow back on the small screen! The ratings will be out after 11am EST.  Rest assured I will be on it!  We will see if we held on to our audience during the baseball hiatus.  Today, they are transforming Greenfield Lake Park into Manhattan park.   They will be filming the actors traveling through park talking and then argument ensues.  You might be able to check out the action from afar as they will be in between the skate park and playground.  They will be adding a cute little hot dog stand and some extra picnic tables for a little character.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/04/2013

Under the Dome was not only the winner in its time slot but easily took the whole night with 10.71 million viewers.  TV By The Numbers reports:

On CBS, with the Time Warner carriage dispute finally resolved, Under the Dome earned a 2.6, up a tenth from last week’s 2.5 adults 18-49 rating. It’s impossible to say whether the restoration of CBS to TWC customers in 3 markets was responsible for the rise.

Encore Magazine wrote an article yesterday that is a fantastic read about the film incentives and those affected by it. Check it out.

And oooh my goodness, look at what’s arrived!!!! The trailer is here!  Eastbound and Down Season 4!

IMAG0404I had the honor of hanging out on Stage 10, the dream stage of Sleepy Hollow for a bit as our London correspondent, Lauren Watt, is in town.  Let’s just say I was geeking out probably more than she and her mate was!  Major kudos to the crew the production grabbed.  Solid.  If you know me by now, you know there was a major hug fest going on yesterday!    I LOVE OUR NC CREW SO MUCH!  Mad talent! Stage 10 by far is the most beautiful multi-set I have ever seen.  And of course they have also taken over other sound stages as well as the back lot!  Let’s hope Fox is here to stay for a long time.  If the pilot is any indication of how good the show will be, we will have ourselves a long time to love them.  The series premieres September 16th on Fox!

Sleepy Hollow has two units running today. They will be back on stage 10 today and the 2nd unit will be doing some driving scenes on MLK Parkway (23rd St. ramp to N. Kerr intersection).

The Dempsey Sisters wrapped yesterday in Brunswick Forest.

NBC’s Revolution Season One is now out on DVD and Blue Ray as well as digital download!  Get yourself a piece of Wilmington Film History 🙂

EP Jack Bender

Exec Producer Jack Bender

It’s official! Under the Dome is a smash hit. The Monday night premiere was the highest-rated show for CBS this summer with initial numbers of 13.1 million viewers tuning in. then midday final numbers from Nielson revealed higher ratings at 13.5 million

Yesterday, Executive Producer Jack Bender held a gathering  on set expressing his gratitude and congratulating everyone on the success of the show.  He said CBS is extremely pleased and he hopes they keep the numbers up and the show continues.  He mentioned it was the largest young audience numbers since Gunsmoke.

With that being said, there are MAJOR RUMORS SWIRLING!  Today could be the day when the cast and crew find out if there will indeed be a season two!  The UTD folks are shooting at the cement factory in Castle Hayne today.

Wired4Film caught up with Kevin Sizemore who plays Paul Randolph.  Check out his interview: Hanging Out “Under the Dome” with Actor Kevin Sizemore

Missy_SusanWell I told ya info would be released about Sleepy Hollow shooting here in Wilmywood beginning next month.  We do have confirmation who got the extras casting gig!  Congrats goes to Susan Cunningham and Missy Branciforte, the extras casting directors from NBC’s Revolution.  I caught up with the ladies this morning.  Susan said, “Folks can look for casting notices on our casting page, Revo Casting Calls on Facebook.”

You next Mullet Alert is at the Courtyard Marriott.  Eastbound and Down is shooting today with Danny McBride, Katy Mixon,  and Steve Little.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 06/20/2013 Sleepy Hollow, Under the Dome, Eastbound and Down, Tammy

Tonight is the big night!  The HUGE Under the Dome Premiere in Wilmywood baby!  Thalian Hall will be starlit!  The ENTIRE cast is getting a pass to get out of filming to walk the red carpet and attend the event!!  That includes producers and writers too!  Jack Bender, Neal Baer, Brian K Vaughan and of course Stephen King!

ALL UNDER THE DOME TICKET WINNERS: CBS is insistent you must be in your seats by 6pm Thursday – OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR SEAT! Don’t be late!

With 4 days until the television premiere, the press is going nuts grabbing interviews left and right from the cast.  The Huffington Post continues it’s trend, this time they got a hold of Miss Rachelle LeFevre.  Here’s an excerpt:

What can you preview about her relationship with Barbie (Mike Vogel), since it seems like their paths cross fairly early on?
Well, I think they gravitate towards each other initially because neither of them is from there. Both of them are outsiders — him more than her — but certainly, that’s something they have in common immediately. Energetically, it kind of differentiates them. Everyone else, they’ve all lived together, grown up together. They’re going to stay there. Neither Barbie nor I feel that way about this place. So we’re unique in that nobody wants to be trapped, but they’re at least trapped at home and we’re not. And so that gives us something immediately in common … There is a strong chemistry there and a strong curiosity about one another, you know, “Who are you and why are you here?”

Rachelle isn’t the only one getting some love.  Dean Norris was awesome as usual on Jimmy Kimmel Tuesday night.  Did you see it?  Got the links for you!  Dean Norris on Jimmy Kimmel Live

MsPenny_tweetYesterday I told you about the flames and explosions that were taking place on the set of Tammy.  Well, Miss Penny Lane tweeted a photo of what went down.  Today Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Mark Duplass and Sandra Oh head to LA baby!  Leland that is.  They are off the the Leland House off Lincoln Rd.

Eastbound and Down will be at two locations today.  Just off N. Kerr Ave and at Market/Cardinal at Stevenson Direct.  I caught up with the incredibly talented actor, Cullen Moss, after he did a stint this week on EBD, and did multiple scenes with Danny McBride.

Still from "The Heroes of Arvine Place"

Still from “The Heroes of Arvine Place”

He’s going to be in the first episode of season 4, playing the general manager of a business, who has an antagonistic relationship with Kenny Powers.  “This will be my only episode, as far as I know, Cullen said.  “I had so much damn fun! We did the scenes as scripted, and then were given chances to use alternate lines and go off on lengthy improvised tangents. That kind of spontaneously creative atmosphere that they’re able to provide is invaluable. In addition to the actors being given that freedom, the writers and the director (Jody Hill) are there, fine-tuning and tweaking the dialogue every moment. It was a completely creative, vitalizing, and affirming experience. I’m hoping they’ll find a way to get me back in the mix later in the season.”

Pre-Production is going swimmingly for Sleepy Hollow and they are still accepting resumes for crew positions.  There are just a handful of positions available, i.e. Set PA, Art PA, and possible assistant to the director.  I am sure there are a few more, so go for it!  BUT be prepared, I would highly recommend to apply ONLY if you are a night owl.  I’ve heard there will be a lot of overnights shoots of this series.   Get your resumes in: sleepyhollowseason1@gmail.com.  As far as extras casting goes, there is speculation, but there is no official word on who has signed on the dotted line for that position.  I will be able to reveal that to you in the next 2 weeks.  Production begins in late July!  Bring it!

Check out the latest promo for Sleepy Hollow that came out this week!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 06/03/2013 – What the stars were doing in Wilmywood over the weekend.

Wilmywood Film Peep of the Day

Channing Duke, Camera PA

Channing Duke, Camera PA

tammy_wilmywoodHappy Monday to you!  Looks like everyone is out of town today.  Tammy will be back at The Grille on Main St. in Shallotte.  We will see Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Mark Duplass, Gary Cole and a nice surprise as our own. Michelle Li from WECT/WSFX was typecasted and will have a nice lil part in the flick as a news reporter.  There should be some fun action in this scene today!  They still have over 15 days of shooting left, so here is a casting reminder from Extras Casting: “If you have ALREADY SUBMITTED and have not heard from us AT ALL yet, please resubmit your info/photo to: tammyextras@gmail.com with the subject title, “RE-SUBMISSION” – Thank you.” Over the weekend, Mark Duplass went to the beach, then tore it up on the dance floor! Haha!  Awesome!

DJRuckusThe folks Under the Dome also had a good time this weekend in Wilmywood. Rachelle Lefevre went shopping on Castle street in the Antique District.  Natalie Martinez was hanging out near Johnny’s Mercer’s Pier in Wrightsville Beach on Saturday.  Check out what she had to say about being Under the Dome!  On Sunday, Natalie was a very happy lady indeed when (major cutie-pie) DJ Ruckus came in for a visit.  Dean Norris recommended this article from TV Blends.  The big premiere is just 3 Mondays away!  They are filming again in Currie, NC today.

As we get closer to the start of Eastbound and Down (June 10th-ish) there are star sightings all over the place, even Danny Doppelgangers!  A friend of mine got a shot of this guy at the pool in the Porter’s Neck area where they just happened to be scouting at nearby residential locations for Season 4!  When she approached the man, and mentioned the striking likeness, he laughed and said, “Yeah, I get that a lot.”  Hey, the ladies LOVE the mullet!  It could work for him!

The star of NBC’s Surface, shot here in Wilmywood a few years back,  Lake Bell got hitched Saturday to Scott Campbell in New Orleans.  The show only lasted one season, but I have to say, I really enjoyed them being here.

A casting call is out for a new reality show, Dream Date.

Have you yet to find the love of your life? Do you feel like you’ve never been out of your county let alone on a plane to somewhere? Would you like to find your “Dream Date”?

We are casting a network show designed to pair you with your soul mate. This is “The Bachelorette” on steroids!!

If you or someone you know is interested, age 21 – 32, please email your full name, age, height, weight, contact phone and two photos. (one close up and a full body.)  Castingdreamdate@gmail.com

And finally, tonight is our last glimpse of Wilmington as the season finale of Revolution airs tonight at 10pm on NBC.  So, the most important question is:  Where’s the party at??  REVOLUTION SEASON FINALE PARTY! Tonight at The Cellar, downtown. Food, special Militia drinks, and more! Get there by 9pm for the fun!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 05/14/2013 – New Reality Show, Perfect Summer, Tammy, Under the Dome, Sleepy Hollow

LISTEN TO PODCAST

Perfect_SummerAnother day in Wrightsville Beach for the cast and crew of The Perfect SummerJason Castro had a great first day as the laid back surf shop owner yesterday.  They will be back at it at the same location today, Aussie Island Surf Shop.  Looks like we will see Jason Castro,  Katie Garfield, JD Banks, Adam Horner and Justin Barnhill shooting.  I am gonna try to stop by the set today and get some scoop for ya!  Thanks to Gary Wheeler for the set pic!

A fun filled day for Tammy as well as they finally get off Nun St. and head to Castle Hayne.  We will be seeing just Melissa McCarthy today with about 8 extras on hand.  There will be a detour as  a 1-mile section of Blue Clay Road will be closed to traffic from Old Mill Road to Holly Road today.

Yesterday I posted the preview for Sleepy Hollow that was shot in the Charlotte area.  If you missed it, check it out now!

Super huge scene for Under the Dome as they are already rolling today at 5th and Castle.  Huge stunts too!  The scene involves a semi-truck crashing into a water tower.  This had the talented set construction folks super busy all week, building the faux water tower.  I was hoping for major explosions today, but I heard they are doing the visual fx in post (but maybe we will get lucky).  But it will still be exciting because not only is it a crazy fun stunt filled day, but it will also be star-studded as well.  Dean Norris, Rachelle LeFevre, Samantha Mathis, Natalie Martinez, Colin Ford – just about all the lead characters will be in this scene as well as a plethora of extras!  Where will be tons of coverage, so they will be shooting until the sun goes down.  This scene will affect traffic patterns as well so find an alternate route!

Doron Ofir Casting (the casting company for Jersey Shore), is casting a new reality show, American Proud – The Party is Down South.  They are searching for the proudest Southerners who are at least 21 years old that are ready to show the world they’re country strong! “If you like your chicken fried, and you’re full of American pride, we are looking for you!”  Local boy Mike Waggett is a recruiter for the company and is asking you to: “Git’er done and apply now!” Email a photo of yourself along with your contact info and tell him why you are “American Proud. ”

Fianlly, CONGRATS to Vanessa and Kim!  NCasting got the gig!  They will be casting Eastbound and Down Season 4.  Look for opportunities to work on the HBO show soon!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 04/12/13 – Nicholas Sparks, Jim Carrey, Lorne Michaels headed to Wilmywood?

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD

LISTEN TO PODCAST

Lots of exciting news today!  First things first, however.  Under the Dome will be filming later today on 15th St and also on the lot. They are shooting some interior scenes, so not too much to see as a bystander.

Okay, I can’t take it anymore!  Gotta dish the latest rumors!  First, Nights in Rodanthe, then Safe Haven and now it looks as though our New Bern native, Nicholas Sparks, is returning for the drama/romance, The Best of Me.  The adaptation dives into the lives of  a pair of former high school sweethearts who reunite after many years when they return to visit their small hometown.   The brilliant and beautiful Denise DiNovi is set to produce. Michael Hoffman is in talks to direct.  Loving the love, Nicholas!  Thank you for sticking with your hometown posse!

The excitement continues even though there is a bit of a delay.  Yes, Christmas will have to wait as Loomis Fargo has been pushed to August.  Jim Carrey stars in this comedy flick about a night guard at an armored car company in the Southern U.S. who organizes one of the biggest bank heists in American history.  Interestingly enough, one of the screenwriters is Danny McBride who is currently hanging out were in Wilmywood shooting his HBO show, Eastbound and Down.  Other notable players attached are Lorne Michaels (Producer) and Jody Hill (screenwriter for Eastbound and Down).  Jared Hess will direct.  Loomis Fargo is looking for a release date in 2014.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you Monday morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am on Sunny 104.5.  Until then, that’s a wrap!
