WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/18/2013 Emmy Noms for NCFilm, Sleepy Hollow Casting Call, Under the Dome Season 2 and more.

The Emmy nominations are in and here is where NC Film shines!

HUGE congratulations to Craig and Lisa Fincannon for getting nominated for  Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series: Homeland!!  Woo Hoo!!  Wilmywood is so proud!

NBC’s Revolution was nominated for stunt coordination for the episode “Nobody’s Fault But Mine.” Congrats to Jeff Wolfe!!

Also up for an Emmy, and I love the way Jeff Hidek from the Star News put it, “The Georgia-filmed episode of #Revolution battles an NC-filmed episode of #Banshee in a visual effects category.”

More  details are circulating about Season 2 of Under the Dome.  Rumor has it, they will be telling the crew at the end of the month.  Now I am curious to know if they will indeed continue the Summer trend or bring it back sooner.  The show is so hot, I dunno if the fans can wait for 10 months for more!  But we will find out soon enough!  The crew will be in Forest Hills this morning, then they move to the sound stage at Screen Gems, then a short trek to the back lot in the woods.  In the meantime as The San Diego Comic Con gets underway, the Under the Dome Comic Con poster was revealed yesterday!  I sooo want one!

Our very own Hank and Jed Movie Pictures are once again up for an award.  This time their popular show, Battlefield Friends is up for “Notable Machinima/Video Series” in the Dragon Slayer Awards!  A vote for BFF is a vote for PROMOTION!!!  Vote now: http://bit.ly/13PnOvU  Apparently the guys at Electronic Arts are fans of the show because because the EA folks posted it on Battlefield’s FB page which has over 6 million likes.  Nice!  Haven’t seen the series?  Check it out now (WARNING: not for kids!)

Production on Sleepy Hollow begins in just a few days.  Scouts were already seen near downtown on Princess taking pictures as well as in New Bern. The handsome Thirty Something star Ken Olin will be directing episode 2 (our first).   Hello talented hotness!! We have our very first extras casting call! They are looking for a couple females to play police officers. These will be hand picked by the director and will most likely be needed throughout the entire season.  Get all the details now!

Cucalorus Film Festival is once a year and it’s awesome, but it’s always cold during the festivities!  Thank God they brought back Surfalorus.  The summertime Film Festival begins tonight and runs through the weekend.  Enjoy three days of outdoor screenings in Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach and Downtown Wilmington with the hottest new surf films and docs about coastal issues. The fest will include an outdoor board expo and shaper show with a live display from area board artists. A free, outdoor screening will also be held each night of the festival with live music and cold beer. Now we’re talkin’!  Get your tickets now!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/05/2013

 

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Where were the stars celebrating? Well, wherever Eastbound and Down cast members celebrated, they got an extended weekend.  They won’t be shooting until Monday on Fremont St.  The Under the Dome folks are shooting in Burgaw today.  Rachelle LeFevre spent her time in Wrightsville Beach.  She was looking for someone with a boat.  Hopefully she found someone!  Other cast members also had a great time on the 4th.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 6/28/2013

Big questions and many of them from Monday night’s premiere of Under the Dome.  Perhaps this is the one I have heard the most: “Why don’t they just dig their way out?!”  That question will be answered this Monday night.  The people of Chester’s Mill are shooting at the old cement factory in Castle Hayne.

MULLET ALERT:  Danny McBride and his Eastbound and Down crew are staying out of the rain, shooting on the lot again today.
On to the local front of filmmaking.  The short film, “Disposable Generation” is looking for extras tonight through Sunday.  The cast includes some great local actors including Devin Mcgee, Scott Parks (Vampire Diaries), Tara Williams, Zach Pappas, and Ashleigh Lineberry.  They are in need of 25 extras aged 18-30 for the weekend for a house party scene.  This  exploratory short narrative “meanders through a handful of arrogant, hollow Gen-Y’ers as they navigate their inherited anxieties, their layered philosophies, and ultimately, their excuses to carry on as they are.”  If you are available, email rejaccard@me.com with the subject like : “TDG -extra”.  This is a nopay gig, but know that you are supporting local filmmakers!

Also handsome local boys, Dominic Santana and Chaysen Beacham, are asking for your support with their project, The U.C.  They have 13 days to go on their kickstarter for this police drama. “With the fall of criminal organizations another rises in it’s place. To counteract this this recurring problem, the FBI sanctions a classified experiment to raise one headed by their own U.C. and controlling major crime. (Under Cover)”

The star of the weekend, Marci Perry aka Grace Riot

Where were the cast and crew of Tammy over the weekend?  Well, it started at the Roller Derby at the Schwartz Center!  Yep, Marci Perry aka Grace Riot, who works in the props department on the comedy Tammy, is also a Cape Fear Roller Girl.  And all the action was not only on the track, but in the stands as well!  It was like an LA Kings game!  A movie creates a family, and these big time Hollywood players were there for one thing.  To root Marci Perry on!  Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass, Executive Producer Chris Henchy and his lovely wife Brooke Shields!  And with all that star power rooting on our Roller Girls, they took it home for the win!  A HUGE a shout out to Lori Harrison aka Miss Ill Crisis as scoring the most points during the bout!

After the Derby, they all headed to the Blue Water in Wrightsville Beach for the wrap party!  The top floor was graced with some great times with some great people!

Also in town courtesy of Swirl Films, (as reported last week) is Rudy Huxtable, I mean Keshia Knight Pulliam  AND freshly off the film Frat Boys that was shot here not long ago is Lil Romeo in “The Love Letter.”  Oh and did I mention Jackee Harry?  LOVE HER!  Woo, we got some fun loving stars up in ILM!!   The cast and crew will be back at Bi-Centennial Park possibly today, but definitely tomorrow  just off 5 th St.

Happy Monday to you!  Looks like everyone is out of town today.  Tammy will be back at The Grille on Main St. in Shallotte.  We will see Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Mark Duplass, Gary Cole and a nice surprise as our own. Michelle Li from WECT/WSFX was typecasted and will have a nice lil part in the flick as a news reporter.  There should be some fun action in this scene today!  They still have over 15 days of shooting left, so here is a casting reminder from Extras Casting: “If you have ALREADY SUBMITTED and have not heard from us AT ALL yet, please resubmit your info/photo to: tammyextras@gmail.com with the subject title, “RE-SUBMISSION” – Thank you.” Over the weekend, Mark Duplass went to the beach, then tore it up on the dance floor! Haha!  Awesome!

The folks Under the Dome also had a good time this weekend in Wilmywood. Rachelle Lefevre went shopping on Castle street in the Antique District.  Natalie Martinez was hanging out near Johnny’s Mercer’s Pier in Wrightsville Beach on Saturday.  Check out what she had to say about being Under the Dome!  On Sunday, Natalie was a very happy lady indeed when (major cutie-pie) DJ Ruckus came in for a visit.  Dean Norris recommended this article from TV Blends.  The big premiere is just 3 Mondays away!  They are filming again in Currie, NC today.

As we get closer to the start of Eastbound and Down (June 10th-ish) there are star sightings all over the place, even Danny Doppelgangers!  A friend of mine got a shot of this guy at the pool in the Porter’s Neck area where they just happened to be scouting at nearby residential locations for Season 4!  When she approached the man, and mentioned the striking likeness, he laughed and said, “Yeah, I get that a lot.”  Hey, the ladies LOVE the mullet!  It could work for him!

The star of NBC’s Surface, shot here in Wilmywood a few years back,  Lake Bell got hitched Saturday to Scott Campbell in New Orleans.  The show only lasted one season, but I have to say, I really enjoyed them being here.

A casting call is out for a new reality show, Dream Date.

Howdy!  It’s a short Wilmywood blog this morning.  Not too much going on.  I can start with Eastbound and Down.  They are still casting background as they gear up for Season 4.  Wanna play “extra”? Kim Stewart just posted this morning: “Okay everybody I am in need of some super pretty girls aged 21-30 for East Bound!! THANKS!!!”  Production begins around June 10th.

Under the Dome is back on N 15th Street then they will head to the lot to finish off a night shot.  Rachelle LeFevre and a few of the main kids will be on set.  Meanwhile Natalie Martinez is spending her morning at Wrightsville Beach running the loop.  Yesterday, NPR released an interview with the main man, Stephen King, however it revolves around his latest novel, Joyland..  Check it out!   

The Tammy crew is back in Burgaw today shooting at the Pender County Courthouse and on various streets today.  You will see the lovely ladies, Susan Sarandon and Melissa McCarthy on set.  On a side note, if you remember due to the Oklahoma tornado tragedy, Melissa’s Mike and Molly season finale got pushed back because it contained some tornado content which would have been in very poor taste.  So, CBS has now rescheduled the finale on a special night and time — it will now air tonight at 8:30 p.m. EST.  “Mike & Molly” was recently renewed for for a 22-episode Season 4.

12:27PM: SLEEPY HOLLOW UPDATED – SCROLL TO BOTTOM FOR ALL THE DETAILS!

Wow! So much to talk about over the weekend! It seems like the Wilmington area was the place to be for sports stars. Especially Wrightsville Beach. If you missed my blogs over the weekend, I reported that Jonathan Stewart, super star running back for the Carolina Panthers, was hanging out at our beach for the weekend. He arrived on Friday and let everyone know with a tweet: @Jonathanstewar1: “I’m out here in wrightsville/”willmington” beach for Memorial Day weeknd enjoying the nice weather! #holla#northcarolina.”

Okay, so he can’t spell Wilmington, but hey we love him anyway, $10 says it was his damn auto-correct.  But Jonathan wasn’t the only superstar. Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps was here too! In fact last night he was spotted at the Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach.  He is reportedly dating the GORGEOUS Carolina Yacht Club member, Win McMurry, On-air Reporter for the Golf Channel. Phelps confirmed it with a tweet: @MichaelPhelps  #mdw USA there’s no better country!! @ Carolina Yacht Club http://instagram.com/p/Z1dDItSx1L/

There were other star sightings over the weekend. While I cannot confirm this, I was told that Mr. Oprah aka Stedman Graham was at Figure 8. No mention of Miss Winfrey however.

On a sad note, as we all geared up and got pumped for Sleepy Hollow, it seems as though their final decision has the production going to Charleston, SC. Booo! But hey, it does leave more room for productions to come in! Say, maybe like an Angelina Jolie flick!!  If you missed the huge A-List scoop, I have two confirmed reports about Angelina Jolie’s people scouting Wilmington for the upcoming movie, Unbroken, which she is directing. Now back to the present! Under the Dome will be on stage for the day.  The good folks of Tammy are back in Wilmywood today. Things are already underway at the New Hanover Correctional Center then making a company move to N. 4th St. If you are a Dan Aykroyd fan, today is his last day on set. Booo! We will miss you Dan! At least we still get some more time with Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon! They are on set today as well.

ATTENTION!  UPDATE:  My sources tell me that SLEEPY HOLLOW is coming to Wilmywood after all.  There was a mix up of information with another TV series, a CBS show entitled, Reckless, that starts shooting in Charleston in July.  They shot the Pilot in Charleston back in February.  They originally shot a TV movie, then spun it into a TV series.  Although South Carolina jumped on the “incentives bandwagon,”  they weren’t strong enough to grab hold of the Fox series.  So, as it stands Sleepy Hollow is still projected to come here.  Yay!

Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps is here!  In fact, according to one of my sources AND as confirmed with a MP tweet, he is hanging out at the Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach at this very moment!

Carolina Panthers fans!  Your boy is in town!  Superstar  running back Jonathan Stewart is spending Memorial Day weekend in Wilmington/Wrightsville beach.  He was spotted at Mayfaire, then I see he tweeted:

Enemy Mig has pushed production of Eastbound and Down: Season 4.  Originally slated to begin filming around the 28th of this month, it looks as though they won’t start shooting until June 11th.  Even though production has been delayed, it didn’t stop the star of the show, Danny McBride, from coming to Wilmywood.  Yep, he’s here and apparently spent part of his weekend at the movie theaters, seeing the #1 movie at the box office, Star Trek into Darkness.
