Lauren – Key Set PA, The Perfect Summer

Good morning! It’s another busy day in Wilmywood. Finally, we can start talking about these guys again. Danny McBride wants you as Eastbound and Down Season 4 is underway! And I would just like to put something out there one more time. With EBD and Tammy shooting here, I am betting we will be seeing Will Ferrell at some point as he is producing both projects. Pure speculation, but I would drop a 20 on that bet. I will let you know if I hear anything.

CASTING: The 1st Extras Casting call for EBD is underway in Wilmington. NCasting is looking for “HOT GIRLS” between 21 year to 32 years old for an upscale night club scene to shoot at the end of May. Check out NCasting’s FB page for complete details.

Two out of the three productions are at our beautiful beaches. You have a chance at some star sightings North and South today.

Melissa McCarthy and the Tammy crew moves from Castle Hayne to Carolina Beach today adding Dan Aykroyd and Susan Sarandon to the mix. They are shooting at Carolina Beach State Park this morning. I stopped by the set yesterday and I don’t see how anyone can not burst out laughing and ruin the scenes with Melissa’s brilliant comedic performances. I am really looking forward to seeing this movie!

I also stopped by the set of The Perfect Summer yesterday. Lots of great local crew on this one. Plus, you can’t go wrong shooting at the beach. The cast was in great spirits as well. Jason Castro, JD Banks and Justin Barnhill were getting ready for their scene. They are back in Wrightsville Beach again at the surf shop (Aussie Island). FYI – If you are a fan of the American Idol contestant, Jason’s last day on set is today, so get your gawking in while you can. Now, I have to put the spotlight on Justin Barnhill for a moment as he is a local boy (Maple Hill) turned sensation especially in the modeling world.

Love to see success come out of North Carolina. Aside from modeling, he is pursuing an acting career and is off to a great start. The 21 year old recently did two episodes of Banshee and now he, of course, is filming The Perfect Summer. Kudos my friend!

Under the Dome is taking it down a notch after big sets and explosions yesterday on Castle St. They are shooting on Chestnut St. this morning then heading to the lot for the remainder of the day.

In case you missed it yesterday, major rumors swirling about 20th Century Fox’s Sleepy Hollow shooting in ILM for the rest of the season. No details yet, but I will keep you posted!

REMINDER: The Beach Boys are coming to the Odell Williamson Auditorium, Thursday, August 29th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the box office and online at bccowa.com. Tickets are $69. There will be 50 special VIP tickets sold for the first 3 rows and a meet and greet with Mike Love for $152.00

Another day in Wrightsville Beach for the cast and crew of The Perfect Summer. Jason Castro had a great first day as the laid back surf shop owner yesterday. They will be back at it at the same location today, Aussie Island Surf Shop. Looks like we will see Jason Castro, Katie Garfield, JD Banks, Adam Horner and Justin Barnhill shooting. I am gonna try to stop by the set today and get some scoop for ya! Thanks to Gary Wheeler for the set pic!

A fun filled day for Tammy as well as they finally get off Nun St. and head to Castle Hayne. We will be seeing just Melissa McCarthy today with about 8 extras on hand. There will be a detour as a 1-mile section of Blue Clay Road will be closed to traffic from Old Mill Road to Holly Road today.

Yesterday I posted the preview for Sleepy Hollow that was shot in the Charlotte area. If you missed it, check it out now!

Super huge scene for Under the Dome as they are already rolling today at 5th and Castle. Huge stunts too! The scene involves a semi-truck crashing into a water tower. This had the talented set construction folks super busy all week, building the faux water tower. I was hoping for major explosions today, but I heard they are doing the visual fx in post (but maybe we will get lucky). But it will still be exciting because not only is it a crazy fun stunt filled day, but it will also be star-studded as well. Dean Norris, Rachelle LeFevre, Samantha Mathis, Natalie Martinez, Colin Ford – just about all the lead characters will be in this scene as well as a plethora of extras! Where will be tons of coverage, so they will be shooting until the sun goes down. This scene will affect traffic patterns as well so find an alternate route!

Doron Ofir Casting (the casting company for Jersey Shore), is casting a new reality show, American Proud – The Party is Down South. They are searching for the proudest Southerners who are at least 21 years old that are ready to show the world they’re country strong! “If you like your chicken fried, and you’re full of American pride, we are looking for you!” Local boy Mike Waggett is a recruiter for the company and is asking you to: “Git’er done and apply now!” Email a photo of yourself along with your contact info and tell him why you are “American Proud. ”

Fianlly, CONGRATS to Vanessa and Kim! NCasting got the gig! They will be casting Eastbound and Down Season 4. Look for opportunities to work on the HBO show soon!
