TNT’s Good Behavior: That’s a Wrap!

GOOD BEHAVIOR – THAT’S A WRAP!

The good boys and girls will be finishing their final shots in Wilmington late, late tonight, so…Thank you to TNT along with Executive Producers Chad Hodge and North Carolina proud Blake Crouch for keeping NC film jobs rolling, for shopping at our local businesses, and for feasting at our local restaurants and on our local catering! Thanks to Michelle Dockery, Juan Diego Botto and the rest of the cast for being so kind and as the crew have said “so great to work with.”

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – Surpasses One Million Views: THANK YOU!

Wow, it feels like I started this here adventure just yesterday. Okay, after a split hair reverie of the summer of 2014 and the hell it put us through, leading the charge to save film, I take that back. It feels like a lifetime. But no matter the length of time, it’s all relative.  At least that’s what Dr. Who would say. But I digress…

THANK YOU NC Film Fans! I realized we surpassed one million views a few days ago and I was like WOH! I cannot thank ALL OF YOU enough for your readership.

From the locals here in North Carolina to the NC Film fans from Canada to Russia to England and even Turkey. Thank you for taking the time to read the scoop.

Thank you to the actors, the crew, the producers for keeping me in the loop, for the “rumors from the lot,” to your favorite restaurants around town, it’s because of you that Wilmington, NC is more and more on the minds of folks when thinking of filming destinations. And as you know that leads to more productions coming and an increase in tourism which means more traffic for those small businesses who benefit from film.

It’s been exceptionally wonderful to educate TV and movie fans about just how many productions filmed here. Out-of-towners get so excited when they learn that Weekend at Bernies or The Conjuring, or even Firestarter filmed here. They simply light up!

Wilmington has been many things: Chester’s Mill, Tree Hill, New York City, Sleepy Hollow and everything in between. You can always transform this wonderful city, but you can’t change what it means to all of us who call this place home. I simply LOVE this town! And I love you! Blogging for The Wilmywood Daily is a passion. It’s a passion because of you my NC Film Crew – I am passionate about you!

So raise your glass! Here’s to you! Thank you and may there be 10 million more views to come!

Some hope for two NC Films: Galifianakis / Beckinsale flicks

Bloomberg Business is releasing some news tht could give us a little ray of hope for two NC Films that were produced last year.  If you remember, both Masterminds (Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis) and The Disappointments Room (Kate Beckinsale) were put on hold indefinitely due to Relativity Media LLC’s bankruptcy filing.  However, it is now being reported that Relativity Media’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh  has found a way to “keep control of his bankrupt movie studio and possibly allow stalled films to make their way into theaters.”

Relativity went to court on Monday to seek approval of a plan that will help its TV unit exit bankruptcy as early as October 20th and allow Kavanaugh to keep the rest company.  Another hearing is today regarding the TV unit, however, we will still be waiting for the film side of the business to see it’s fate. It’s currently in TBD mode.

$30M NC Film Grant will be ready for apps in November.

I figured you’ve been wondering now that the budget is complete, where’s all the prospective productions?  Been crickets for the last few weeks.  Well, the language is still being worked out.  Lauren over at the Triangle Business Journal reports that the North Carolina Department of Commerce is still in the “public comment phase of drafting the grant guidelines.” All written comments will be accepted until November 6th.  If you wanna go and person to file a comment, you have until October 29th to do so, but you have to head to Raleigh to do it.

After that , the guidelines will then become effective on November 9th. Applications for the grant will be accepted soon thereafter, but there is no definite date as of yet.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 10/16/2015 Tidbits for the week

TNT’s Good Behavior starring Michelle Dockery and Juan Diego Botto has had some great weather for filming this week. They’ve been to Manna, Isaac’s Men’s Store, and Salt Works to name a few. Today they head to EUE/Screen Gems and trek out to Currie next week.

TNT’s ‘Good Behavior’ adds two more cast members.

Lusia Strus & Terry Kinney have been added to the list of cast members. They will join Michelle Dockery and Juan Diego Botto on our TNT Drama Pilot, Good Behavior.

It looks like EPs Blake Crouch and Chad Hodge are keeping it in the family with casting Lusia Strus as she had a recurring role on Wayward Pines.

Strus plays Estelle who “lives in rural Georgia and has custody of Letty’s ten year-old son Jacob. After the “nightmare” of her daughter Letty, Estelle sees Jacob as her do-over. She talks tough and is very serious about being Jacob’s guardian. But in her efforts to be a good mother she may be doing even more damage. Like Letty, Estelle has dark demons…and way too much fun.”

Kinney (Black Box, Billions), is a more straight and narrow kinda guy, at least he appears to be. He plays Christian, Letty’s substance abuse counselor. “A mentor and father figure to a woman who lives at her lowest point. Christian doesn’t always hear the truth from Letty, but he’s lying to her, as well, not only about his own sobriety, but also about why he’s really ‘helping’ her.”

TNT’s Good Behavior shoots at more local hot spots.

Tomorrow is the big day for TNT’s Good Behavior! Day 1. Last week, we talked about some local staples in which we will being seeing the production team setting up. Now we have a few more! They will be shooting at Salt Works Restaurant and in the parking lot at the NHC Arboretum on Friday.

Next week they head to some more locations we know and love. We will see our NC Film Crew working at the fabulous restaurant Manna as well as the Cape Fear Club. Then the following week, they will head to the Carolinian Inn on Market St.

Can’t wait to see those lighting and grip trucks lining the streets once again! So welcome back to work NC Film Crew!

Also, I would like to give a HUGE shout out of love and respect to Good Behavior’s UPM, Dale Williams. If you don’t know who she is, she is probably one of the greatest role models for all women in the business and I believe is under appreciated.

She has worked as a Production Manager here in Wilmington for many years and she is incredible at her job. But Dale is not only exceptional as a UPM, but from what I’ve heard over the years, she is WAY more than that.  I have been told over and over again that she is one of the people that are responsible for saving film.  I don’t know her very well, but I can tell you she is in my top 5 of most respected women in Wilmington.

So, if you happen to see Dale today, give her some major kudos and tell her just how much you appreciate her! And if you happen to read this Dale, YOU ROCK! Thank you for all you do! Have a GREAT first day tomorrow!
