THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 07/28/2015 The Choice returns, Under the Dome tidbits, Paper Towns

The NC shot Paper Towns took in $12.5M at the box office during its opening weekend.  It was released in 3,031 theaters nationwide.

The Choice is returning to Wilmington for some reshoots next week. They will be here for about 6 days. I believe it will be Benjamin Walker, Teresa Palmer and Maggie Grace coming into town. Sorry Tom Welling fans.

Catch Under the Dome‘s Eriq LaSalle on ABC’s The View tomorrow at 11am EST, where he’ll be chatting w/the ladies about acting, directing, and being an author.

Rachelle LeFevre took some time from Under the Dome to volunteer this weekend with Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity.  She was among 20 folks who worked in the Love Grove community Saturday as they build a new house.  READ STORY NOW.

Dean Norris is right behind her as he will also be taking some time to help to give back to Wilmywood this Thursday at the Cape Fear Literacy Council’s Literacy Luncheon.  Tickets are still available.  If you attend Dean will be hanging out afterwards for a meet-n-greet.

comics-boom-studios-sleepy-hollowWithout warning or further details, Boom! Studios sent out this Sleepy Hollow comic cover and it’s gone totally viral in the Twittersphere!  Talk about a tease coming out of nowhere! BOOM! has already produced comic adaptations for Planet of the Apes, Die Hard and 28 Days Later via licensing agreement with 20th Century Fox, so why not, right? I’d buy it!

In case you didn’t believe me months ago, Nicholas Sparks was here, but not for his movie he is currently shooting, The Longest Ride. Nope, it’s the one they are shooting in September, The Choice. He went scouting with his producing buddies. Sure hope he stopped by The Longest Ride set at least to say, “Yo, what’s up? Thanks for making my book into a movie again Wilmington!”

Rachelle LeFevre speaks up for NC Film

Although Rachelle LeFevre could not attend the incredible NC Film Rally yesterday, she took the time out of her day to speak up for NC Film.

“ARachelles an actor, being away from your home, your friends and your family can often be the hardest part of the job. It’s for this reason that I’m so happy to say that Wilmington has come to feel like a second home for many in our cast, myself included. During the first season of our show it quickly became evident how much this beautiful state has to offer both productions and those relocating with them. Although I was sad to leave my life in Los Angeles, I was also excited to return here for our second season. The people here are welcoming, the locations are stunning and our North Carolina based crew is easily among the best of any in the world. Film and television production isn’t what it used to be ten years ago, where networks and studios flashed deep pockets and producers had enormous budgets with money to burn. The landscape has changed and I haven’t filmed a series in the last five years where the decision of where to to shoot wasn’t based on one factor: economics. Productions go, sadly, not where it’s most beautiful or where they have the best crews, but where it’s most affordable; losing the tax credits here WILL send production elsewhere. This would be devastating for the thousands of people whose livelihoods depend on the incoming flow of productions, and the local businesses that would indirectly suffer hard losses. As a supporter of NC Film and Wilmington Film Crew it is my sincerest hope that the talented, hard-working people I have met be allowed to continue doing world-class work right here in North Carolina, and that other actors get the experience of living in this beautiful state and the charming, fast-growing city of Wilmington where I have come to feel so at home.”

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 03/24/2014 Max Steel, Under the Dome, Red Zone

Hey Hey and Happy Monday Wilmywood!  Hope you had a great weekend!  I was great to see so many of you at Jack Bender‘s Art Show. SEE PHOTOS NOW

tscc3

So last week, I hinted at some really cool construction going on for MAX STEEL.  Well, my sources are telling me Ideal Cement is gonna be the Max Steel Headquarters.  It feels like TMNT all over again! And it looks like director Stewart Hendler is confirming the location.

https://twitter.com/stewarthendler/status/447023927106093056

I chatted via twitter with Ana Villafane over the weekend and she is pumped about playing Sydney.  Ben Winchell, who will be playing Max McGrath is gonna have one hell of a wardrobe, one piece in particular.

MAXSTEEL_CASTWriter Christopher Yost was doin’ a little bragging last week, saying “Know what else is ridiculously awesome? The suit for the Max Steel movie.”  Okay, seriously, I am starting to geek out about this flick.  Ahhhh! Let’s go into production already!

Under the Dome is headed to Southport today for a little church scene.   A lot of cast member on set today including Dean Norris, Mike Vogel, Rachelle LeFevre, and Eddie Cahill to name a few.

AshleyMarchingBandAnd now we always walk about Film=Jobs, but more importantly we need to discuss what film does for a community.  There are a ton of stories that you never hear, so I am gonna make sure to bring them all to light!

Jenny called The Sunny Morning Show on Sunny 104.5, and she told her story of how a television production (RED ZONE) has helped the Ashley High School Marching Band. READ STORY NOW

RED ZONE is back at Ashley High School today.  I am so glad for the sake of the cast and crew today is not an overnight shoot!  Good Gravy!

SarahSlate2The folks at pledgetosarah.org are asking you to Take the Pledge! This is not about crews, or cast, or production, or us, or them,” it states.  “It’s about everyone on a production. Be safe and be aware. No exceptions. Safety is the responsibility we accept every time we step on a set and it only works if we all have each other’s backs – because no one wants to have to explain to a friend’s loved one why they didn’t speak up.”  TAKE THE PLEDGE NOW
