Tammymight have been nominated for a Razzie, but it took in over $100 million at the worldwide box office. And we got some congratulations to give out to some NC Film peeps! The Location Managers Guild of America is recognizing our locals Mike Hewett and Lori Russell for Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film for the comedy. The awards ceremony will take place in Beverly Hills, March 7th! Awesome job Mike and Lori, but then again, we expect nothing less! Woo Hoo!
Mike was the location manager and Lori was the key assistant location manager. The LMGA only allows two people to be nominated and not the whole location department / team, but kudos goes out to the entire department!
And speaking of Tammy, last night at the People’s Choice Awards, Melissa McCarthy won for Favorite Comedic Movie Actress! Congrats lady!

They will be talking about that today at the 4pm meeting. There are 9 days until the long session begins in the General Assembly.

Remember after the election I told you about the possibility of Pat McCrory calling a special session for incentives. All proceeds raised will go to the Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon, raising money for the Betty H Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital. This year we are raising money for a Pediatric Transport Ventilator. This ventilator will help ensure area kids have the latest technology to aid their breathing while receiving care at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The psychological thriller, The Harrow, keeps popping up on the NC Film radar. First back in July and now last week. It supposed to be shooting in Charlotte and New York. I believe it is an indie flick. The projected start date is October 13th. Don’t know much else. I will keep you posted.
Last night on Under the Dome, Big Jim finally learned the shocking truth about what really happened to his wife, Pauline, when they were reunited. Meanwhile, climate change posed a new threat to Chester’s Mill. After the Emmy’s took all the viewers last week, we expect to see much better ratings this week! I will posted them later today!

Hollywood legend, James Garner who has graced us with his presence here in North Carolina, has passed away at the age of 86 in his home in Brentwood, which is just outside LA. If you remember he played Red Stevens in The Ultimate Gift which was partially shot in Charlotte. And of course he was here back in 2001 for the Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood playing Shep Walker.
The Longest Ride is heading out to three locations today: They are heading to Wallace as well as Orange St. and back to the Cameron Art Museum.

Blumhouse Productions has pushed back the release date for our Wilmywood shot Jessabelle. Originally, it was going to be released next month, but it will now hit theaters and on-demand services the week after Halloween, November 7th.
“It’s a ghostly tale of Jessabelle who returns to her childhood home in Louisiana to recuperate from a horrific car accident, Jessabelle comes face to face with a long-tormented spirit that has been seeking her return and this spirit has no intention of letting her escape.”
Jessabelle stars Sarah Snook, Mark Webber, and of course one of our favorite local actors David Andrews.

Orlando Jones had people cracking up over the weekend with his Comedy Night over at Theatre Now with an after party at KGB. Of course there was Sleepyhead Nikki Baharie in attendance. Here’s a few pics I totally stole from Jessica Armstrong and David Pascua!

CREW CALL: Yellow Footprints (working title) is now accepting crew resumes. Send your resumes to Crew@snakebite.com with your position in the subject line. The indie feature is about a Female Marine, who struggles at home and on the front lines in a traditionally all male Marine Infantry Unit. Offices will open within the next two weeks. Production is slated to begin in September. This project will shoot in Wilmington and the surrounding areas.
After it’s third week at the box office, Tammy is doing pretty well earning $12.9M over the weekend. Add that to its total gross, the Wilmywood shot comedy is currently at $57,354,000. Not bad for a $20M movie.
Another great night to head on down to Hell’s Kitchen for the Under the Dome viewing party. Party kicks off around 9pm with of course the show at 10pm. Here’s a little preview of what’s in store for us tonight!
