One of the many pics from Kevin “CUZ” Davis ~A Tribute Page to our loved Friend& Local Rock Legend ♥ – Adam Glenn Alphin
This morning, I had the honor of having my friend Scott Davis with me on the airwaves. As most of you know, he is Kevin “Cuz” Davis‘ brother, who passed away last weekend. Musicians and filmmakers united in celebrating Cuz all week long on a tribute page on Facebook.
Now Scott is reaching out to thank all those who remember Cuz as a joyful spirit as well as to thank everyone for their overwhelming love through the family’s dark time.

ABC’s Secrets and Lies has named their director. It looks like Charles McDougall will be directing the pilot episode. If you don’t know the name, you’ve definitely has seen his work at some point. His credits span every network from primetime to premium including The Office, House of Cards, Sex and The City, as well as the pilot episode of the new show Resurrection, which is also from ABC, shooting in Atlanta. And here’s a little fun connection. Our love Kevin Sizemore from Season One of Under the Dome will be playing Gary Humphrey in at least five episodes. The Aussie turned US television series begins production in Wilmywood, February 21st.
Now moving on to Mattel, we knew that Max Steel has been pushed back, but now we have a bit of a clearer picture. It’s looks like production will begins in March. No casting details have been released as of yet. I will keep you posted on those details.
People Magazine came out with an article that put the number of NC Film Oscar Noms back to two again. We have of course Iron Man 3 (VSX) as well as Bad Grandpa(Hair/Makeup) up for the golden statue. The third Oscar nod went to Bruce Broughton, who was nominated for writing the music for Alone Yet Not Alone that filmed in Transylvania County here in North Carolina. Bruce had his Best Original Song nomination taken away by the Academy yesterday. Why? People went on to say:
“Broughton, who is a former member of the Academy’s Board of Governors and a current member of the Music Branch executive committee, emailed members of the branch to make them aware of his submission.”
Apparently that is a HUGE No-No.Do you think he deserved to lose the Oscar Nom? Post your thoughts below!READ ARTICLE NOW
North Carolina is ranked third in the US by Good Jobs First for public access to its incentive packages. The article in the Winston-Salem Journal states that “North Carolina received a score of 48, trailing just Illinois at 65 and Michigan at 58.” READ ARTICLE NOW

Happy Snowy Wednesday Wilmywood! Man, it took me 1/2 hour to de-ice and defrost before I could leave my driveway this morning! The roads are covered with ice, so you can’t see the lines in the road. BE CAREFUL!
We’ve got so much news we are WAITING for…casting details, more features coming, but alas, we sit here until the time comes to deliver! Argh! Yeah, yeah, I know patience! Well, here’s what we do know.
Two casts members of Sleepy Hollow got an upgrade to series regulars! John Noble and Lyndie Greenwood were promoted for the sophomore season. The Hollywood Reporter says, “Noble’s Sleepy Hollow promotion puts him back in business with Fox as a series regular, where he had previously starred in Fringe. Meanwhile, Greenwood, who portrays Abbie Mills’ sister Jenny, appeared in the majority of the 13-episode run.”
So yeah, Lyndie was already playing the part, so I am glad both get the notoriety and pay raise! READ ARTICLE NOW
NBC has decided not to go forward with the rookie comedy “Sean Saves the World,” which has stopped production and effectively been cancelled. The show starred Sean Hayes and our lovely Linda Lavin. Can we please have her back now?

For all those who knew Kevin “Cuz” Davis (which is thousands of you) – This fund will help with the funeral costs as well as give Kevin’s family a cushion of “time and resources as they pick up the broken pieces of their lives.” So, yeah help them out even if it’s just a couple of bucks!
Cuz’s brother, Scott Davis writes, “Plans for a celebration( I saw somebody posted the name Cuzfest, I like that) will begin next week. You can expect posts as plans develop. Our North Carolina shot Bad Grandpa is out on DVD and Blu Ray today! Not only do we get to enjoy the movie all over again, but of course the bonus features will be super fun with this flick.
Johnny Knoxville is REALLY looking forward to you grabbing a copy. “We had so much hilarious footage that we had to cut for various reasons, so I’m psyched that people are going to get to see everything, especially when it’s unrated and on Blu-ray. Woohoo!! Plus I think fans will get a kick out of seeing how we pulled off some of the pranks in the behind-the-scenes footage. As Irving would say, ‘The show’s not over until I hogwrench the fat lady’s spatooly.'”
Blu-Ray Combo Pack will come with an Unrated Cut with more footage, along with the regular theatrical version. The set also features over an hour of behind-the-scenes content, deleted scenes and alternate reactions from real people. If you get the single-disc DVD there are NO special features.
One of the next pilots to shoot here soon is already being deemed 2014’s most promising US comedy pilots. Den of Geek has FX’s How and Why third on their list. Why? Because it’s got Charlie Kaufman’s name on it. CHECK IT OUT NOW

Filmmakers and Musicians alike are mourning the loss of a great man. Kevin Davis, “Cuz” as he was so lovingly called, passed away this weekend.
Kevin crossed over into both the music and film world. He’s worked on more movies than IMDb listed. Many knew him as an energetic and ever so loving Grip, but so many knew him as an iconic musician. From his marching band days at New Hanover High, to the craziest of bands he put together throughout the decades. But no matter which side of the entertainment world, people all agreed he was the most loving and kindest spirits that walked this Earth.
His brother, Scott Davis, also an amazing part of the Wilmington Film Family, will be organizing a fundraising effort. Please look for that effort, and of course all the love and stories about Cuz in this Facebook group. You are also encouraged to share your own stories.
FINALLY we made it to Friday! Man, is it me or did this week feel like the LONGEST week ever? Well, let’s get right to it!
FILMMAKERS GET READY! Winston-Salem’s own RiverRun International Film Festivalannounced this week that it has been accepted as a qualifying festival for the Oscars in the Documentary Short Subject award category. Evan Vetter, are you listening? Tony Morin? Rob Hill?
This is huge news for North Carolina Filmmakers. Entering your film and trying to attend festival can get really expensive, so it’s nice to have an Oscar qualifying festival in our state. This new change to River Run allows documentary shorts to forgo a standard theatrical run, provided that winning films otherwise comply with Academy rules. Now in its 16th year, RiverRun will run April 4-13 in downtown Winston-Salem.
The article sited of course 3 of our flicks were in the top grossing films of 2013. I think our NC Film crew can take full credit for that. That’s right! Your welcome Iron Man! Moviemaker also sites our North Carolina’s tax incentives, the increase of the project cap from $7.5 to $20 million. But my favorite part was the last sentence which came from Aaron Syrett, Director of our NC Film Office:
“If producers are not looking at North Carolina, they’re not doing their jobs!”
Haha! Yeah, you right! Tell ’em Aaron! If you notice, the #1 cities are not mentioned. You gotta buy the mag to find out. Gotta say that is pretty smart marketing plan on their part. It hits the shelves on Tuesday. So who is going to be #1 in the big cities? Atlanta? New Orleans?
Okay – Moving on. I gotta complaint yesterday that actors were directly contacting Principal Casting Directors. So, I said I would try to help in this department. If you are a working actor, then you know this is a HUGE no-no. This does not help you! Okay, but you know what, after giving it some thought, I know you don’t wanna hear it from me.
We should probably get an expert to chime in on this subject. I will let Casting Director Marty Siu give you some insight on this topic. LISTEN NOW!
By the way, when I called Marty she was surrounded by a film crew who is shooting a Suicide Prevention Film. She believes that this is a very important issue, so not only has she volunteered her time being part of the crew, but her son Logan Siu has volunteered his acting skills to bring this film to life! Way to give back Siu family! This little flick is written and directed by Missy Beasley and also stars Rebekah Cohen. It is being produced by Clout Motion Pictures!

I wonder since it’s a ball this year, if I will have to get dolled up?
That just about does it for me; I will have the Wilmywood Week In Review for you tomorrow and more Wilmywood updates for you Monday morning (unless something breaks) and every weekday morning Sheila does “What’s Up in Wilmywood” at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5. Okay – I gotta complaint that actors were directly contacting Principal Casting Directors. So, I said I would try to help in this department. If you are a working actor, then you know this is a HUGE no-no. This does not help you in your plight to be the next rising star!
Okay, but you know what? After giving it some thought, I know you don’t wanna hear it from me. Let’s get an expert to chime in on this subject. Casting Director Marty Siu explains why.
