ANOTHER STAR SIGHTING IN WILMYWOOD

AnneArcher

The absolutely stunning Anne Archer who is most known for her incredible work in movies such as Fatal Attraction, Patriot Games, & Clear and Present Danger, was spotted downtown having lunch at The Basics with a large group of people.  After doing a little digging, Anne’s husband of 35 years is the Sports Producer and Emmy Award Winner, Terry Jastrow.  With Jastrow’s extensive golf knowledge and resume, one can speculate they are here for The Squeeze, the golf movie which opened up offices at Screen Gems today.

More info to come…

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/30/2013, Matt is back, The Squeeze and more.

homelandHappy Monday! Last night was an NC double header with the Charlotte shot (and might I add Emmy winning) Season 3 of Homeland on Showtime followed by our own Eastbound and Down, Season 4, the final season. I know it was hard on a lot of folks who just HAD to watch Breaking Bad!

MattLintzSleepy Hollow is welcoming back on set today, Matt Lintz. Mackenzie Lintz (Norrie, Under the Dome)’s little bro is holding his own and from what his mom told me a while back, he has actually had more acting gigs in Wilmington than any of the Lintz’ family members. Awesome Matt! We love having you here! The Sleepyheads will be shooting on the lot today. And of course, episode 3 is happenin’ tonight at 9pm on Fox and it’s all about the Sandman!

I asked Nick Gonzales (Dect. Luke Morales) about what we can expect tonight and he said, ” It’s all fun and games tonite on Sleepy Hollow until Capt. Irving gets his way.”  Hmmm, vague yet mysterious!  Here’s a sneak peek:

CUCALORUSCongratulations to the Cucalorus folks. They exceeded their Kickstarter goal of 23k with $24,108! The festival kicks off November 13th and runs through the 17th.

alisaHarrisWECT reported  Jane McNeill and Anthony Reynolds, two Wilmington-based actors, both landed roles in the Hugh Jackman flick Prisoners.  Well, there is one more to add!  The fabulous Alisa Harris is also on that list!  As you can see she played the Police Clerk in the flick.  If you saw the movie, lemme know if you spotted the pretty lady!  She said she didn’t get to scream like she did in Witches of East End while playing the Frantic Woman, but  she did make Jake Gyllenhaal jump a little.  LOL Awesome Alisa!

Executive Producer George Parra is opening up offices at Screen Gems today for the golf loving family film, The Squeeze. They should begin principal photography in about 3 weeks.

Crackerjack AirstreamLook what made it into Wilmywood this weekend as we gear up for the VIP screening of Crackerjack!  It was spotted in the Bayshore area of Wilmywood!  I will have tickets to give away to the VIP screening of  Crackerjack (Art Within Productions/Modest) during the “Crackerjack Road Less Graveled Movie Tour.”  The film opens at the Regal Mayfaire 16 on October 11th, with an invitation-only V.I.P. screening on October 10th.  The PG-13 rated film stars Wes Murphy and Bethany Anne Lind and narrated by Jeff Foxworthy.  He is also the Executive Producer. The film was shot in Savannah, GA.  MORE DETAILS TO COME.

Finally, we got a Wilmywood party tomorrow night at Shell Island Resort in Wrightsville Beach from 6-9pm.  I will be bartending and all my tips will go to Canines for Service!  Hope you can make it.  Gonna be super fun!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning (unless something breaks) and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/27/2013 Eastbound, Cucalorus, The Remaining and more.

timguineeTim Guinee (Charlie’s father from Season One of NBC’s Revolution) is back in North Carolina, but this time is is for our other NC hit show, Homeland. While he was in Charlotte, he had to sound off and be his usual grateful self complimenting the writers, the cast and the NC Film crew.  I had a quick exchange with Tim this morning and he said:

“Being a graduate of UNCSA in Winston-Salem, it’s always great to come back to work in North Carolina. So glad there’s so much work here.”  He went on in support of our NC Film Incentives, “I hope the state is smart enough to keep the tax incentives which are above all such a great thing for the NC economy. It would be sad to see all those jobs pack up and move to another state as it so often happens.”

Tim, we love your support and we definitely glad you are back in NC for a few days!  Love to you my friend!

Our Under the Dome creator Stephen King join the ladies on The View today 11am EST He’s there of course to talk about his new book, but I am sure they touch upon the success of our show.

I gotta give kudos for kindness this morning.  Many people have told me how sweet and charming Tom Mison is.  But this week he spotted a children’s class watching them film up in New Bern and went over and spoke to them and posed for pictures with the class.  Class Act indeed Tom, you get an A for awesomeness!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/25/2013 New Movie Coming in, VIP Screening and More.

a-good-old-fashioned-orgy02Looks like another movie is coming to Wilmywood!  After speaking with three different sources, the golf themed movie is called The Squeeze and bringing it here is the Executive Producer of Silver Linings Playbook, George Parra.  You might remember him last time he was here as the line producer of Good Old Fashion Orgy.  This flick however will be made for a broader audience.  Attached to the family film is a first time director who will be left unnamed for now, but multiple sources are telling me they could open up offices as early as next week.  We will find out in the coming days if this intel is solid.

crackerjackWe didn’t make it, but they want us to see it!  Wilmywood has been selected for a private VIP screening as a premiere stop on the “Crackerjack Road Less Graveled Movie Tour.”  Crackerjack (Art Within Productions/Modest) is a heartwarming Southern comedy of one man’s journey down a road less graveled. The film opens at the Regal Mayfaire 16 on October 11th, with an invitation-only V.I.P. screening on October 10th.  The PG-13 rated film stars Wes Murphy and Bethany Anne Lind and narrated by Jeff Foxworthy.  The film was shot in Savannah, GA.

So why Wilmington?  According to the press release, Wilmington has a special place in director Bryan Coley’s heart.  It is where his parents met and fell in love over 40 years ago, and hence he grew up vacationing here.  “What’s neat is my kids now love Wilmington the way I have my whole life, and they are excited that they will get to see my film open up here.”

“This film reflects everything I love about the South,” Bryan continues,  “From boiled peanut signs to Pedro’s South of the Border to church league softball — and our narrator, Jeff Foxworthy — that’s not a bad recipe for good-time entertainment.

The filmmakers call it a nice blend of  “Raising Arizona,” “Napoleon Dynamite,” and “The Blind Side.” This Southern tale, told by executive producer, Jeff Foxworthy follows the comical missteps of a lovable loser, Bill “Crackerjack” Bailey IV (CJ). He’s a home run king…of men’s slow pitch softball, and he has been “sort-of” engaged to his girlfriend, Sherry, since 5th grade. However, when Sherry learns she’s pregnant and moves out to nudge CJ into action, the real root of CJ’s artful dodging comes into play: a curse that leads Bailey men to become absent as soon as a baby becomes present. Faced with losing his true love or confronting the curse and his impending fatherhood, CJ does what most men would do. He plays ball!

dalearchMy buddy Matt Warzel is doing another FUNdraiser for his flick Dale Archdale this Saturday to help with getting his movie in the film festival circuit. The event is from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Goat-n-Compass, 710 N. 4th St. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Good Shepherd Center. Yes, this movie was the reason Ron Jeremy was in town a while back.

Reshoots for The Remaining begin today.  They will be downtown at Grace United Methodist Church for day one.  Sleepy Hollow heads back to New Bern today.

Sleepy Hollow Rolls Heads with Ratings!

Sleepy-Hollow-Title

Another great night blended with suspense, hilarity and down right creepiness!  So, let’s find out who was watchin’!  SH had some serious competition last night, but regardless it held its headless high beating CBS sitcoms with a 3.1 A18-49. It’s down four tenths from last week’s 3.5, but that is norm for the second episode.  So, down a bit, yes, but still chopped some competition! See what Joe says below, and you will smile.

What do the experts say?

Anthony Crupi  “Sleepy Hollow week 2 pulls a 3.1, which translates to a 91% retention rate versus the premiere overnight. #renewal
.
.
Joe Adalian SLEEPY HOLLOW’s 11 percent decline from premiere qualifies as a great week-to-week hold. Per Fox, REVOLUTION declined 17% W2, ELEMENTARY 19%”

ABC/TODD WAWRYCHUK

Congrats to Claire Danes for taking home an Emmy last night for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for our North Carolina shot, Homeland.

Offices for The Remaining are officially open and the cast will come into town tomorrow as they get ready for re-shoots.  Why the re-shoots?  Well without giving anything away, they decided to make some writing changes and decided to have a better outcome with a few of the scenes.  Now, I can tell you the crew is VERY glad the show is back.  Speaking with some crew members they said that although they will be a couple of very long shoot days this week, they had a great time shooting this movie earlier this year.  They enjoyed both the young cast and director on this flick.  “They were a great group of people to work with .”  They will be shooting Wednesday through Friday this week, although some have told me just Thursday and Friday.  I will find out more details.

Offices officially open today for Bolden!  Looks as though they moved into Hub B, then we transfer to Hub D next year.  Glad to have the film back that saved so many during the housing crisis.  Yep, if you remember, this movie kept a lot of people working and stores open with its budget exceeding $100 million.  So, thank you Dan Pritzker and the rest of the crew from Bolden!

filmjobsFinally, there have been some crazy rumors and I have no idea how or where this silliness started, so let’s this straight!  The NC Film Incentives HAVE NOT been cancelled. They will not sunset!  So tell, everyone to calm their little pants down!

Fox’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Gets Big DVR boost beating out Under the Dome

sleepy

Wilmywood can celebrate some more!  We already knew that Sleepy Hollow killed it in the ratings, but after factoring in the DVR numbers, it went through the roof!  And even bettered Wilmywood’s other hit show, Under the Dome!

According to Deadline:

The September 16th debut episode jumped 43% in Live + 3 ratings, nabbing a 5.0 rating & 13.2 million viewers compared with the Live + Same Day numbers which were a 3.5 rating & 10.1 million viewers. That makes it the best debut for a Fox fall drama series since the launch of “24” (5.4/13) all the way back in November 2001.

That’s the largest L+3 audience movement of any new series debut last season and bests Under The Dome’s 3.2 million gain. With the other Big 3 set to unleash their new dramas next week, all we can say is “let the games begin.”

The jump of 1.5 ratings points is also the biggest new series L+3 jump this year – more than “Revolution” (1.4), “The Following” (1.1)  as well.
