TNT’s ‘Good Behavior’ films next week at two Wilmington Staples

Yay! The first locations outside of EUE/Screen Gems have been released. Next Friday, October 9th, TNT’s Good Behavior starring Michelle Dockery and Juan Diego Botto will be filming at two of Wilmington’s staples.

They will be shooting at Salt Works Restaurant and in the parking lot at the NHC Arboretum, both of which are on Oleander Drive. You know we always talk about how small businesses benefit from film and here is a wonderful example. This will be an evening shootSalt works and the scenes will involve rain effects and a tour bus.  That’s all I know. I can tell you they will need about 20 extras or so for this scene, so make sure you keep an eye out on NCasting’s Facebook page for this call if you wanna do some background work.

They will also be shooting at a private home next Wednesday through Friday and the following week as well on Country Club Rd. Just a few extras will be needed for those shoots.

All dates are subject to change and are especially weather permitting.

Woop! Let’s get this NC Film party started!

Wilmywood celebrates ‘Empire Records’ – 20 years strong today!

Twenty years ago today, Empire Records hit theaters and although it wasn’t a big hit, it became a cult classic.  In fact, they probably made more money in rentals than they did at the box office.

“I’m surprised by this film’s popularity.” said Key Makeup Artist Jeff Goodwin. “Out of all the films I have done spanning more than three decades now, films including Blue Velvet, Rambo III, the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Last of the Mohicans to name a few! People love Empire Records!”

Some other great NC Film Crew members like Rick Pour, Robbie Beck, John Copeman, Beth Giles, Andy Krish, and Matt Sullivan (just to name a few) worked on this one, so ask ’em some some good stories if you see them.

In this day and age, if you said “record store,” kids would scratch their heads wondering just what the hell this so-called “record” is, much less having a store for it. But we remember, so let’s take a moment to reminiscence with Liv Tyler, Anthony LaPaglia, Renée Zellweger and friends shall we…

Oh yeah, it was hip, it was trendy and it was shot right here in Wilmywood. The interior of the record store was filmed at EUE/Screen Gems Studios, but you can get a glance of the exterior on South Front Street. Scenes from the back of the store were filmed right at the Cape Fear River.

NC Film Crew members Mourn the Loss of a Brother.

Yesterday, some sad news rocked the NC Film Crew world because the man who passed away is being called “an incredible human being” and “the nicest guy you’ll ever meet.”

Geoffrey Ryan worked in the Locations Dept since the late 1970s. He’s worked on many productions here in Wilmywood including Bolden!, Where the Devil Hides and Revolution to name a few.

Crew member Kasey Keiser has set up a Memorial Fund for Geoff’s family describing the man as “one if the best people anyone could ever know or work with,” and that Geoff “meant so much to many…an inspiration for allot.”

Below is from the Go Fund Me.

Geoffrey Ryan.

The man has passed, but the legend will live on forever.

He touched so many lives in his travels, picking up stories and giving them to all.  We all know a piece of him, and that is what will always be with us.  This is truly someone whom can never be forgotten.

To honor him, this is a Memorial Fund dedicated to his life, and his family…Chayne Ashton Ryan.  All proceeds will go directly to her to help out in any way that she needs.  This gives each of us the chance to help out the best way we can to show how far his stories go, and how big her family truly is… How much each of us cared for and loved this absolutely amazing soul, and the songs of his life.

Please feel free to give anything you can, but this is not about the money, this is about the love.  Share this across the world, across any medium you can.  Let’s make sure everyone can see this and feels his presence, with that hair flowing under that hat.  Sing songs in his memory.  Post your stories of Geoff so all can see.  Let each of us show how we care by forging the myth of the man, Geoffrey Ryan.

3. HGTV’s Love it or List it (Raleigh/Durham, NC) – Eligible for up to $950,000.

We knew a reality show got the final bit of cash from the left over money , but we didn’t know which one.  Well, now we do.

Now with the Dirty Dancing money done with and since the Governor signed the budget today, we will now see who applies for the $30M in the grant for this fiscal year. It might be a little while since they have to implement all the new language what was changed.

TNT’s Drama ‘Good Behavior’ chooses male lead.

Oh my, my, my.  We have ourselves a male lead, ladies and gentleman!  Yes, we will be welcoming Spanish actor Juan Diego Botto to Wilmywood soon! He is set to play the character Javier opposite Michelle Dockery (Letty Dobesh) in the TNT drama pilot Good Behavior. Shooting begins October 7th right here in Wilmywood.

This is his first role on American television. Now here’s some deets about his character. According to Deadline, Javier is the magnetic contract killer who crosses paths with Letty when she overhears his plans to kill a client’s wife. Like Letty, Javier lives a dangerous life outside the system, and their attraction is immediate and complicated. When he discovers her intentions to undermine the murder plot, he’s impressed but undeterred. Javier seeks Letty out to kill her, but ends up pulling her into a dangerous, seductive working arrangement.

I repeat, this will be a dangerous and seductive relationship! And that’s just how WE like it, right?

Good Behavior is based on the Letty Dobesh books by our NC native Blake Crouch.

Who’s getting pumped about this pilot? Woop!
