Another Dome Day is coming. Here’s the preview as we gear up for Monday night:

Christmas in Conway is filming at NHRMC today as one of the characters is treated for injury. Afterwards they head to Greenfield Lake Park at the main playground area.

Sleepy Hollow is back at the Brooklyn Arts Center on N. 4th St. The location was transformed into an abandoned church which is not hard to do. Our heroes will find a clue, but of course some bad guys show up to start the party making some noise. So, if you are close by, you will probably hear some fake gunfire coming from inside the building.

Swirl’s The Dempsey Sisters is shooting off Gordon Rd today.

Sarah Crandall reports that Wilmington recently made a BuzzFeed article’s list of 41 Things You Might Not Know About “One Tree Hill,” highlighting certain parts of Wilmington.

The Cucalorus Film Festival has announced its early selections for 2013.  Here’s the list!

Some more auction items came in for the Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon.  Thanks to Chris Bromley for getting us the swag for Tammy and The Conjuring.  Don’t forget we also have an Under The Dome autographed script, an Arthur Newman poster signed by Colin Firth and Emily Blunt as well as a “Screen Gems Experience” up for grabs.  The auction will begin around September 10th.  As soon as I get concrete details, I will share!

Finally congrats to our Safe Haven man Josh Duhamel as Fergie’s little pea is out of the pod — The Black Eyed Peas singer has given birth to a baby boy named Axl Jack Duhamel.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 08/29/2013 Two Wilmington flicks make the list.

After all the excitement this week in Wilmywood, it had finally settled down into a slow day, but I have a few tidbits to report.

The list of top 10 Summer movies is out from ComingSoon.net and 2 Wilmington flicks made the list.  Coming in at #1 is, of course, Iron Man 3 (Domestic: $408.2 million; Worldwide: $1.2 billion) and #10 was The Conjuring (Domestic: $129.6 million; Worldwide: $194.9 million).  The Conjuring is listed at #7 on the top grossing horror movie at the US box office.

Sleepy Hollow is filming at the Brooklyn Arts Center on N. 4th St. and also doing some driving scenes around downtown.  And in cased you missed, here’s the video from the early screening of Sleepy Hollow at Regal Cinemas at Mayfaire.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 08/28/2013 Sleepy Hollow Premiere, Christmas in Conway and more.

First let me try to articulate because all I keep saying is “Oh my god! Oh my god!” Surely I have more words in my vocabulary. I can tell you that Sleepy Hollow truly was one of the best pilots I have ever seen. The acting was brilliant and the chemistry between Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Ichabod (Tom Mison) was beautiful as was the cinematography and special effects.

In a nutshell, here is my review:

“Sleepy Hollow blends comedy, drama and suspense better than a strawberry milkshake from Baskin-Robbins.”                             ~Sheila Brothers, What’s Up in Wilmywood

And you can quote me on that!  Last night was filled with crazy excitement and Regal Cinemas had a line out the door that was as longer than the Great Wall of China!  People drove from Salisbury, NC where the pilot was shot, and there were many who have worked on the show in later episodes.  Other folks were simply Tom fans, Orlando fans and Wilmington film fans.

Not only did they have some Sleepy Hollow swag, but an inside look of the show and a special guest. Orlando Jones just happened to show up with Ichabod Crane’s wife, Katrina aka Katia Winter. I will post video for you later today!

The only disappointment of the night was there were a ton of people that waited in line for a very long time and didn’t get in because it was oversold, even after Regal opened a second auditorium to accommodate the masses.  But they did give out Sleepy Hollow t-shirts to those who couldn’t get in.  The people who did get the chance to see the pilot, didn’t get that sweet stuff.  All in all, it just proves the show has a major buzz. The television premiere is Monday, September 16th 9pm EST on FOX.

As reported a couple of weeks ago, Wilmington based Marty Siu is the extras casting director for Spongebob 2 which is shooting in Savannah, GA. Hallmark’s Christmas in Conway is shooting on E. Renovah Circle still in the Forest Hills area.

Local Boys from Crane House are shooting a music video for rap artist “Ttip” (no, that’s not a typo) on the top of the City parking deck on N. 2nd St.

Principal casting begins on The Dempsey Sisters tomorrow.  Production begins in September for Swirl Films.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 08/27/2013 New Movie Rolls into Town, Sleepy Hollow Screening and more.

Well, as you can see,the What’s Up in Wilmywood blog got a facelift, so lemme know how you like the new look.

Another movie rolls into town this week thanks to Swirl Films! This is their 3^rd movie this year! Kim Stewart begins principal casting this week for The Dempsey Sisters. I can tell you the main cast is African-American and there some great roles to fill with various age ranges. More details to come!

Nothing new for Christmas in Conway. They continue to film in the Forest Hills area.

We finally get a peek at the pilot episode of Sleepy Hollow tonight. If you RSVPd, the advance screening will be at Regal Cinemas at 7:30pm…BUT get there early! Per usual, it is oversold!  The Sleepy folks are shooting on the lot again today.

Congrats to Deborah Johnson!  She got the chance to play a 1700 witch on the show! You scored the pass to tonight’s screening of Sleepy Hollow!

The television premiere on September 16th comes on the same day as the Under The Dome ends – Gonna be one hell of a night!

And of course all you Domies were on the edge of your seat waiting to find out who indeed was the 4th hand.  Did you watch it? Under the Dome took first place once again in viewers (10.64m), adults 25-54 (3.4/09) and adults 18-49 (2.4/07).  Our show was up +3% in adults 25-54 (from 3.3/08), even in adults 18-49 and added +280,000 viewers (from 10.36m, +3%) compared to last week.

Apparently Under The Dome is panning out for Amblin Entertainment.  Although Madonna tops Forbes Magazine‘s new list of the top earning celebs.  Steven Spielberg came in second with a $100 million pay check from June 2012-June 2013.

If you missed the revolutionary Revolution.  Season One is now  available on Netflix.  They are in Austin, TX shooting Season 2 which  will premiere September 25th!
The word is finally out.  Remember  a few weeks ago I told you Danny McBride is moving onto another HBO  show, a high-school based one?  This will be the one that Lindsay Lohan could be a part of.  She is interested.   Now, where will they film it?   We can hope, right?

Happy Birthday to Melissa McCarthy.  She turns 42 today!

Ashlea Kosikowski had a blast on the set of Sleepy Hollow yesterday with scorpions and gorgeous set design galore At Screen Gems. Ash will be hosting this upcoming screening of Sleepy Hollow at Mayfaire’s Regal Cinemas, this Tuesday. Read about her adventures and get a closer look at Sleepy Hollow NOW!  While she was on stage 10, crews have already broken ground on the back lot and are working on transforming it into a 1700 colonial town. Last time we had a back lot set was for Martin Lawrence’s Black Knight in 2000.  Sleepy Hollow is filming at Barbary Coast on S. Front St.

Wrangler Jeans is doing a photo shoot today at Greenfield Lake Park as well as the downtown area.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 08/22/2013 Mystery celebrity revealed, Wilmywood wins Sleepy Hollow early screening

We did it!   Wilmington along with New York and Chicago are getting an advance screening of FOX’s Sleepy Hollow.  The show airs on Fox September 16th, but we get to see it this Tuesday, August 27th at Mayfaire’s Regal Cinemas!  Our lovely lady from WECT/WSFX Ashlea Kosikowski will host the event.  Perfect choice! Go hot mama go!  I’ll let you know about tickets later today.  If you spot police cars coming and going on near the 200 block if N. 5th St today, chances are it’s just Sleepy Hollow filming as they are doing some police work within the scene they are shooting.

There was a big buzz on the set of Eastbound and Down yesterday, the final day for EBD.  Sacha Baron Cohen graced us with his presence, well on the lot anyway.  He was here for the past few days.  I wonder if he actually got to see a ‘lil of Wilmywood besides the lot?  Hope so.  The gang has moved on to Charlotte.  But before Danny McBride left Wilmywood, he did say he hopes to bring more projects here.  Um, Loomis Fargo w/ Jim Carrey and Owen Wilson, perhaps!  After all he and Jody Hill did write and the word remains, they are looking at early 2014.

SNOW DAY!  Yesterday Christmas in Conway turned into Christmas in August as a wonderful holiday scene was shot with plenty of snow!  The gang was back at the ferris wheel location in Forest Hills and from what I heard, it was a very touching scene between Andy Garcia and Mary Louise Parker.  There were a lot of background extras and I heard a lot of hot Firemen.  Ha!  Kudos to the actors and background for staying pleasant while wearing their winter wear with the weather in the 80s.  (Kinda like working on Sleepy Hollow perhaps?)

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 08/21/2013 UTD, EBD, Sleepy Hollow and more…

Ratings for Monday night’s Under the Dome matched last week’s season low of 2.4 (10.30 million viewers) but still easily won overall at the 10pm slot.

We are still waiting on word whether or not we get our early screening of Sleepy Hollow.  They are still “tallying the votes.”  As soon as they reveal the winners, I will get you the location for the screening.  The folks are back in Currie today.

Missy and Susan of Revo Casting are looking for a male between the ages of 9-13 that is a MASTER PIANO PLAYER. MUST BE ABLE TO READ MUSIC AND PLAY FLUENTLY and have open availability for filming TOMORROW (8.22.13) in the Wilmington, NC area. Christmas in Conway is filming at their regular location on Forest Hills Dr in Wilmington.

Eastbound and Down back on the stage today, their final day before they head to Charlotte.   Another big star is in town, but I’m not sayin’ who, because the folks at Enemy Mig don’t like stuff leaking out.  Can’t say I blame them if they want people to be pleasantly surprised with all the cameos episode to episode.  But hey, if TMZ leaks it, it’s fair game 🙂

Rumors on the lot say that Bolden! will shoot some of their scenes in Atlanta, thoughI don’t see any solid reasons why that might be true.  Not believing this one so much.  But I will find out for ya.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 08/20/2013 Heart of the Country, Lindsay Lohan, Sleepy Hollow and More.

Voting ended for the advance screening for Sleepy Hollow last night!  Hopefully we did it.  I will keep you posted!  The gang is shooting in Currie NC today.

Christmas in Conway is back in Forest Hills and Eastbound and Down is on the lot today.

Word has it, Lindsay Lohan is still in town.  Although she was wrapped by the weekend, she simply loves it here!  She was in Marsh Oaks yesterday as they were filming a scene there.  Can’t say I blame her, Wilmywood is pretty damn awesome.

If you remember, Heart of the Country shot here last year.  The movie is out on DVD and On Demand today.  The movie was written and directed by Wilmington’s own John Ward.  It stars Jana Kramer and Gerald McRaney.  Our lovely Sydney Penny also joins the cast.  Sydney is also the co-producer.  Marty Siu did the extras casting, plus, a lot of great local crew members were on this flick.  The storyline: “With her husband jailed for Wall Street fraud, Faith leaves her life of luxury behind to return to rural North Carolina and the father and sister she’d left behind. A love between a father and his daughter, it parallels the famous parable, ‘The Prodigal Son’.”  ~IMDB

We will see how last night’s episode of Under the Dome fared in the ratings last night with the overnight numbers coming in around 11:30am EST.  I will update the blog when they come in.
