TICKETS ON SALE OCT 1: “Tainted Love” starring Orlando Jones ft. Eric Roberts.

A press release just came out regarding Orlando Jones’ “Tainted Love.” Of course you know Orlando Jones from Sleepy Hollow as Frank Irving.  It is a graphic novel of the film kind starring Orlando and features Eric Roberts who was here in Wilmywood last year for The Perfect Summer.

This is an evening of film, with music by Wicked Warlock and Gang Stir Rock, dance and a Q & A from Orlando Jones at the end of the film! Tickets will be $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Though it is not part of the Cucalorus, it is playing the week of the film festival.  See below!

Wilmywood’s Film Peeps of the Day!

It’s the last day of Swirl Films’ The Perfect Summer today.  They will be in Carolina Beach on Lake Park Blvd.  Everyone really enjoyed Eric Roberts being here for the past few weeks.  And just a little FYI, Eric has been a very busy man.  He’s is involved in over 42 projects due to come out this year and some in 2014, plus he is acting in 7 other projects that are currently in development.  Very busy man indeed!  Go here for updated picture gallery of The Perfect Summer

 

On a side note, I think it’s kinda cool and interesting that most of the premium cable channels are shooting in North Carolina.  Eastbound and Down, Season 4 begins next week, right here in Wilmington.  Outside of the Wilmington area, Cinemax’s Banshee continues in Mooresville, while Showtime’s Homeland is just about under way and is casting their stand-ins and photo doubles in the Charlotte area as well.

Iron Man 3 box office update: This weekend IM3 pulled in $35.2 million domestically.  The domestic total is $337 million.  Worldwide, it has cleared ONE BILLION, making it #9 on the list of all time worldwide box office gross.

The Tammy folks went down to Spring Lake Park in Boiling Springs Lake early this morning and will stay there tomorrow as well.  With 203 extras on hand and Melissa McCarthy on a Sea Doo, how can this not be a fun scene to shoot! The fabulous Susan Sarandon is on set today as well.  They are on a rain delay but expecting to shoot as some point.  Here’s a couple of pics from this morning:

Under The Dome will be shooting on Chestnut St.  this morning then they make their company move to the lot later in the day.  You can catch a glimpse of Rachelle LeFevre, Mike Vogel, Natalie Martinez, and Dean Norris if you are out that way.

Happy Friday!  A couple of quick notes first.  Under the Dome will be in Burgaw all day.  If you miss the exclusive preview from the CBS Upfronts I posted yesterday, check it out.  Eastbound and Down is still location scouting and casting photo doubles as well as extras.  Principal Photography begins May 28th.

Tammy gets a late start today as they head over towards the Brooklyn Art District today on N 4th St.  They break away for a bit for an additional scene off Farley Drive.   You can expect to see Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon on set today.  You can also catch Melissa in the latest installment of the delicious Hangover III.  Yep the Wolfpack is back in theaters on the 23rd.  Third times a charm as Melissa plays the character Cassie in the flick….take a look!  She’s at time marker 2:12.

A gorgeous start to the day!  A huge scene for The Perfect Summer today, and they are encouraging everyone to join in on the fun.  (The location is Wrightsville Beach, the Stone St. access (google it) from 7:30am-3pm) The big beach scene is a surf competition.  Eric Roberts and cast will all be out there.  Today is not a paid gig HOWEVER Kim from NCasting says she will be signing you guys in & promise to work you on paid jobs like East Bound and Down! All ages are welcome. They begin filming at 6:30 am.  You can come and go any time between 6:30am – 3 pm.

All beachy type wardrobe: bathing suits with cover ups, shorts, t shirts, sun dresses. No red, no white & no big logos. If you want the shuttle & not pay to park you can come to crew parking every 1/2 hour starting at 6:30 am until 2.  Crew parking is located next to the Wrightsville Beach Museum, 303 W. Salisbury Street.

Toni Collette took some time away from the set of Tammy to head to New York for the CBS Upfronts yesterday as she and Dylan McDermott star in Hostages .

It will have a limited 15-episode order. Her co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon continue filming today in Carolina Beach.  They will return to the State Park, then make a company move to Snow’s Cut Park.

Continuing with the CBS Upfronts, Under the Dome was presented yesterday at Carnagie Hall.  It was well received from those in the audience.  I asked one journalist, AJ Marechal from Variety, who was multitasking, blogging and tweeting every detail of the presentation, her thoughts about UTD.  She replied with,  “intriguing, cool effects.”  She is funny as hell and straight to the point.  I highly recommend you follow her @Variety_AJM. Under the Dome is shooting on Point Harbor Rd. at the boat salvage yard, then they will head back to the lot.  If you would like to be an extra on the show, and haven’t done so yet, they are looking for more new faces for tomorrow’s shoot.  Visit NCasting’s FB page for details.

It’s a great day to be a cast and crew member of The Perfect Summer as they are in Wrightsville Beach again today! You will get to see Eric Roberts  on set this afternoon and all day tomorrow.  Gorgeous weather, so I hope they get some downtime to jump in the ocean today!

CROWD NEEDED TOMORROW: The production is looking for a crowd for the “surf competition” scene at Wrightsville Beach tomorrow.  No pay, but if you want be out there, you can come and go as you please.  There will some of our favorite local surfers out there, so they would love to see you supporting them.  Let alone you can hang out with the cast and crew.  Fun day. (The location is Wrightsville Beach, the Stone St. access (google it) from 7:30am-3pm)

HBO’s Eastbound and Down is getting closer to their production date and they are scouting your neighborhood!  I have heard from two friends now that they want to use their houses for the show.  Hey, don’t say no!  It’s good money!  The Fincannon’s are casting principal and NCasting is casting extras.  Production begins May 28th.

Another day in Wrightsville Beach for the cast and crew of The Perfect Summer.  Jason Castro had a great first day as the laid back surf shop owner yesterday.  They will be back at it at the same location today, Aussie Island Surf Shop.  Looks like we will see Jason Castro,  Katie Garfield, JD Banks, Adam Horner and Justin Barnhill shooting.  I am gonna try to stop by the set today and get some scoop for ya!  Thanks to Gary Wheeler for the set pic!

A fun filled day for Tammy as well as they finally get off Nun St. and head to Castle Hayne.  We will be seeing just Melissa McCarthy today with about 8 extras on hand.  There will be a detour as  a 1-mile section of Blue Clay Road will be closed to traffic from Old Mill Road to Holly Road today.

Yesterday I posted the preview for Sleepy Hollow that was shot in the Charlotte area.  If you missed it, check it out now!

Super huge scene for Under the Dome as they are already rolling today at 5th and Castle.  Huge stunts too!  The scene involves a semi-truck crashing into a water tower.  This had the talented set construction folks super busy all week, building the faux water tower.  I was hoping for major explosions today, but I heard they are doing the visual fx in post (but maybe we will get lucky).  But it will still be exciting because not only is it a crazy fun stunt filled day, but it will also be star-studded as well.  Dean Norris, Rachelle LeFevre, Samantha Mathis, Natalie Martinez, Colin Ford – just about all the lead characters will be in this scene as well as a plethora of extras!  Where will be tons of coverage, so they will be shooting until the sun goes down.  This scene will affect traffic patterns as well so find an alternate route!

Doron Ofir Casting (the casting company for Jersey Shore), is casting a new reality show, American Proud – The Party is Down South.  They are searching for the proudest Southerners who are at least 21 years old that are ready to show the world they’re country strong! “If you like your chicken fried, and you’re full of American pride, we are looking for you!”  Local boy Mike Waggett is a recruiter for the company and is asking you to: “Git’er done and apply now!” Email a photo of yourself along with your contact info and tell him why you are “American Proud. ”

Fianlly, CONGRATS to Vanessa and Kim!  NCasting got the gig!  They will be casting Eastbound and Down Season 4.  Look for opportunities to work on the HBO show soon!

Well, I have to give a big thank you to a few news outlets for giving some kudos to the surfers.  Wednesday, a couple of surfers who were working on The Perfect Summer saved some people stuck in a bad rip tide.  See Cassie’s story here in the Star News.  This is nothing new, however.  If you spend your summer at the beach, you know our awesome surfers save lives every week, even more ofter than our lifeguards.  It’s just something they do.  They are always scanning the water.  They totally deserve the recognition.  The Perfect Summer, starring Eric Roberts, is shooting in Carolina Beach today.  They head over to Fort Fisher tomorrow.

Now moving on to Tammy.  Looks like Melissa Mc Carthy, Nat Faxon and Toni Collette will be shooting today on Nun St.  And speaking of Toni, another star sighting!  There was a HUGE buzz in the air at Whole Foods Wednesday around lunchtime.  Darcie reports two store employees were excitedly chatting about Toni Collette after one had just rang up her purchase.  Love it!

There’s going to be star sighting GALORE this weekend.  Not only due to all the stars filming, but POP CONNING as well.

Dozens of stars are here now and are gearing up for tonight as Day 1 of Port City Pop Con begins! Michael Biehn, Ernie Hudson, Dee Wallace, Margot Kidder, Camden Toy, Scott Grimes, Bob Guiney, Rob Wiethoff (John Marston RDD), Robbie Rist (Oliver, Brady Bunch).

Lots of little tidbits and reminders today!  Let’s start with some star sightings.  This time was at Mayfaire.  The stars got a chance to get off the set any enjoy some of Wilmington’s finer things.  Like food!  We gotta add Roko Italian Cuisine to the list of restaurants in Wilmington where Hollywood dines.  Both Melissa McCarthy and Dan Aykroyd, who are here shooting the comedy, Tammy, dined there this week.  Tammy is shooting once again on Nun St.

Okay, moving on.  Under the Dome is back in Burgaw.  The Perfect Summer is in Carolina Beach again – just interior shots,  so no star gazing today.  Had to throw in this pic from yesterday.  Looks like our local surfer, Tony Silvagni  and Eric Roberts are best buds since the shoot yesterday.  Tony is Eric’s surf double in the movie.

Today is the last day to see Arthur Newman in theaters, so make your plans to head to Carmike Cinemas for this limited release!  (check Tuesday’s blog post for showtimes).

I haven’t said much about the Fox Network’s Wild Blue in a while mainly because there is not much going on.  My sources tell me the production has been pushed back.  Actually quite a few productions have, including Eastbound and Down.  From what I am hearing one reason for the delay is that the crew is all working on other productions.  I suppose now’s a great time to get into the field, if that is what your passion is!  SEE LATEST BREAKING NEWS ABOUT WILD BLUE HERE. Wild Blue stars Mykelti Williamson (Bubba of Forrest Gump) as Master Chief Donald Bowman along with Josh Salatin, Will Rothhaar, Alano Miller and Gina Rodriguez.

I will be interviewing Rob Wiethoff, the voice of JOHN MARSTON on the video game, Red Dead Redemption.  He will be among the many attending Port City Pop Con this weekend at the Wilmington Convention center.  His interview will be up later today (or tomorrow). I took a detour yesterday after attending the Home Again reveal (see previous blog post) and got to visit the set of Tammy.  I can tell you its got a nice energy.  We have some great local crew working on this one.  Today, they are back on Nun St.  What megastar is  in town and ready to shoot this morning?  Susan Sarandon!!  Yep, she’s here and she joins Melissa McCarthy and Allison Janney on set today!

A big congrats to everybody’s favorite, local, world champion surfer Tony Silvagni.  He is officially Eric Roberts‘ surf double in the movie The Perfect Summer.  They began at sunrise this morning.   (FYI: Tony’s got an AMAZING surf school). Wilmington’s own, Swirl Films is producing this one.

Happy Friday you beautiful peeps!  And we’re off!  It’s day 1 one for Melissa McCarthy and her hubby Ben Falcone.  The Tammy crew is off to Dawson Street today at Two Fat Ladies Restaurant.  That should be super fun!  Yesterday, I told you there was yet another  mega star coming into town today.  Well, I can now tell you that star….will be revealed after the break! or at the end of the blog!  Ha!

It’s also day one for The Perfect Summer today.  It stars Eric Roberts, Sydney Penny, Jason Castro, Adam Horner & Katie Garfield. They will be shooting in Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach and downtown Wilmington.  The film wraps May 20th.

IM3 is breaking records across the world, first in Italy and now in China with estimated $21.5 million opening.   The previous record-holder for biggest opening day was Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, with a $17 million debut.  Many wondered why Iron Man 3 opened overseas first.  Disney distribution chief Dave Hollis said he wanted to open before the coming May Day holiday on May 1, when many foreign workers and schoolchildren have off. Experts say the US Box Office projections are well over $100 million.  Thank you Captain Obvious.

Actor Tony Todd (Candyman, Night of the Living Dead, Final Destination) is hanging out in Wilmington this weekend.  You can do some Karaoke with the Candyman at the Browncoat (111 Grace St, 910.341.0001) from 10:30-2am. Admission $20. Includes draft beer, 1 free raffle ticket.  He’s also doing a special networking dinner for all those aspiring filmmakers and actors.  Call the number above for more details)
