A Homicide Investigation points a finger at Dan Aykroyd. A landfill worker uncovered film of Dan Aykroyd standing over a bloody corpse.  The man in Canada turned it in to police, thinking he stumbled upon murder evidence caught on film.  Turns out it was a scene was from the 1990 flick, “Loose Cannons.”  Aykroyd was last seen Wednesday at the Blue Post signing his Crystal Head Vodka.  His cast members of Tammy are getting a late start shooting into the very late hours in Shallotte at “The Grille” on Main St. today.

Back in 1989, Wilmywood was the home for the movie, Dream a Little Dream, starring the “Coreys.”  Corey Feldman had a say about wardrobe and used his own, very expensive black jacket.  Well, that jacket was stolen.  Now over 20 years later, it was finally recovered at a Boston Flea Market and was returned to Corey.  Feldman said  it’s worth $100,000.  Some of the locations used in Dream a Little Dream include: New Hanover High, Thalian Hall, the old Roy’s Riverboat Landing, the house at 1705 Princess St.

We have yet another reason to be grateful for NBC’s Revolution shooting its first season in Wilmywood.  The series brought in over $50 million to the state. The Wilmington Regional Film Commission says an  estimated $56 million was spent – wages earned/taxed in NC along with goods and services bought and taxed.  Don’t forget the season finale is Monday at 10:00pm EST.

Under the Dome is getting a late morning start in Currie NC.   Our own sports star, baseball player Trot Nixon will be inducted into Wilmington Walk of Fame today.

Howdy!  It’s a short Wilmywood blog this morning.  Not too much going on.  I can start with Eastbound and Down.  They are still casting background as they gear up for Season 4.  Wanna play “extra”? Kim Stewart just posted this morning: “Okay everybody I am in need of some super pretty girls aged 21-30 for East Bound!! The director would like photo options by Tuesday so please spread the word if you know some hotties 🙂 Please submit you a CURRENT photograph, name, age, phone number & wardrobe sizes to kimmieNCasting@gmail.com with the subject line EBD Club Scene. THANKS!!!”  Production begins around June 10th.

Under the Dome is back on N 15th Street then they will head to the lot to finish off a night shot.  Rachelle LeFevre and a few of the main kids will be on set.  Meanwhile Natalie Martinez is spending her morning at Wrightsville Beach running the loop.  Yesterday, NPR released an interview with the main man, Stephen King, however it revolves around his latest novel, Joyland..  Check it out!   

The Tammy crew is back in Burgaw today shooting at the Pender County Courthouse and on various streets today.  You will see the lovely ladies, Susan Sarandon and Melissa McCarthy on set.  On a side note, if you remember due to the Oklahoma tornado tragedy, Melissa’s Mike and Molly season finale got pushed back because it contained some tornado content which would have been in very poor taste.  So, CBS has now rescheduled the finale on a special night and time — it will now air tonight at 8:30 p.m. EST.  “Mike & Molly” was recently renewed for for a 22-episode Season 4.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 05/29/2013

Morning Peeps!  Well, it wasn’t just the sport stars that came to Wilmywood to enjoy the 3 day weekend.  WECT reported The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrey was enjoying the Port City as well.

Yesterday, I made a BIG correction on the blog.  There was a bit on confusion about whether Fox TV’s Sleepy Hollow was coming here or going to Charleston, SC.  Well, it’s looks like it is finishing the season in Wilmywood.

Since yesterday was Dan Aykroyd‘s last day on the set of Tammy, I was hell bent on meeting him (again after more than 20 years).  So, I caught up with him on set yesterday, and let me tell you that is one sweet, sincere man.  And he loves Wilmington.  The Tammy crew is trekking back to Burgaw today.  Big park scene, lots of kids running around.  You will be seeing Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon on set.

Under the Dome is on the lot for the first part of the day, then they return for their N. 15th St. location.  And speaking of UTD, if you are already a fan, you are so gonna love what I have coming up for you! Well, what Sunny 104.5 has coming up for you!  So, don’t miss a single blog!

Also, an FYI for Makeup Artists in town. 12:27PM: SLEEPY HOLLOW UPDATED – SCROLL TO BOTTOM FOR ALL THE DETAILS!

Wow! So much to talk about over the weekend! It seems like the Wilmington area was the place to be for sports stars. Especially Wrightsville Beach. If you missed my blogs over the weekend, I reported that Jonathan Stewart, super star running back for the Carolina Panthers, was hanging out at our beach for the weekend. He arrived on Friday and let everyone know with a tweet: @Jonathanstewar1: “I’m out here in wrightsville/”willmington” beach for Memorial Day weeknd enjoying the nice weather! #holla#northcarolina.”

Okay, so he can’t spell Wilmington, but hey we love him anyway, $10 says it was his damn auto-correct.  But Jonathan wasn’t the only superstar. Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps was here too! In fact last night he was spotted at the Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach.  He is reportedly dating the GORGEOUS Carolina Yacht Club member, Win McMurry, On-air Reporter for the Golf Channel. Phelps confirmed it with a tweet: @MichaelPhelps  #mdw USA there’s no better country!! @ Carolina Yacht Club http://instagram.com/p/Z1dDItSx1L/

There were other star sightings over the weekend. While I cannot confirm this, I was told that Mr. Oprah aka Stedman Graham was at Figure 8. No mention of Miss Winfrey however.

On a sad note, as we all geared up and got pumped for Sleepy Hollow, it seems as though their final decision has the production going to Charleston, SC. Booo! But hey, it does leave more room for productions to come in! Say, maybe like an Angelina Jolie flick!!  If you missed the huge A-List scoop, I have two confirmed reports about Angelina Jolie’s people scouting Wilmington for the upcoming movie, Unbroken, which she is directing. Now back to the present! Under the Dome will be on stage for the day.  The good folks of Tammy are back in Wilmywood today. Things are already underway at the New Hanover Correctional Center then making a company move to N. 4th St. If you are a Dan Aykroyd fan, today is his last day on set. Booo! We will miss you Dan! At least we still get some more time with Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon! They are on set today as well.

ATTENTION!  UPDATE:  My sources tell me that SLEEPY HOLLOW is coming to Wilmywood after all.  There was a mix up of information with another TV series, a CBS show entitled, Reckless, that starts shooting in Charleston in July.  They shot the Pilot in Charleston back in February.  They originally shot a TV movie, then spun it into a TV series.  Although South Carolina jumped on the “incentives bandwagon,”  they weren’t strong enough to grab hold of the Fox series.  So, as it stands Sleepy Hollow is still projected to come here.  Yay!

Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps is here!  In fact, according to one of my sources AND as confirmed with a MP tweet, he is hanging out at the Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach at this very moment!

BREAKING WILMYWOOD NEWS: A-Lister Scouting Wilmywood for Major Studio Film

FINALLY I can say something!  This bit of information has hard to keep under wraps, but after another confirmation, I can now tell you that we could have the ultimate megastar coming to film here in Wilmywood!

After two confirmed reports, my sources tell me that member(s) of the Universal Pictures production team were here last week to scout Wilmington for the movie, Unbroken. And that megastar is the one and only, Angelina Jolie.  She is slated to direct this story of Olympian-turned-WWII POW Louis Zamperini.  This will be her second project she is directing.  Although she made her directorial debut with In The Land Of Blood And Honey, this will be a first for her on a major studio film.  As far as her acting, there is no word if we will see her on screen.

The most interesting part, besides having such an amazing woman possibly coming here, is that Universal has been developing this story for the silver screen for more than 55 years.  Mick Garris is exec producer and Matthew Baer & Erwin Stoff are producing.

Hopefully her team found everything they needed here in Wilmington.  On a side note, If Angelina does come, chances are we could have a visit from the fabulous Brad Pitt as well!  I will keep you posted as more information comes in!

Wilmywood’s Film Peep of the Day!

Yay!  It’s Friday!  And a three-day weekend at that!  I would first like to give kudos to Kim, our Film Peep of the Day, and her choice in Wilmywear! Okay let’s go Under the Dome.  They are getting a very late start today, shooting at 4pm and going until early Saturday morning in Currie, NC.

The Tammy cast and crew is filming on Wilmington St. and N Walker St. in Burgaw today.  A very funny scene.  Let’s just say there are cops involved!  They will also be be shooting on the road as well.  You will get a glimpse of Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon.  Plus, our lovely, local and talented gal, Barbara Weetman, has a part in this scene!

Wilmington/Clinton hometown boy, Chris McCullen, is competing in the premiere episode of TNT’s 72 HOURS airing Thursday, June 6, at 9 pm (ET/PT) on TNT, throws Chris into icy blue waters of the Yasawa Islands in Fiji.  Chris was born in Clinton, NC, but spent most of his life in the Wilmington area. He moved to San Diego to pursue his dance dreams and since has created a style of dance that teaches people how to dance to electronic music.  Good Luck Chris!

Thing went well as Faye’s Cafe yesterday.  Now the Tammy cast and crew are about underway in White Lake giving some love to a local restaurant.  Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon continue their “road trip” and stop at Ski Burger.

Safe Haven scores some youthful nods as the movie shot in Southport receives three Teen Choice Awards nominations.  Nicholas Sparks celebrated with a joyful tweet!

A very slow day in Wilmywood, that is until it isn’t – you know how it goes. Ha!

Not much else to say after yesterday’s bid breaking news about Melissa McCarthy firing an extra for being rough with her son on the set of Tammy in Boiling Springs Lake on Monday.  You had much to say about it! Here’s a handful of comments:

Wendy: This is awesome!!!!

Laura:  Way to go Melissa McCarthy!

Jordanna: Go Melissa! I can’t believe anyone would have the nerve to do that! If you are going to do that in public what are you doing at home? It’s one thing to tell your child to calm down and behave its another to “discipline” your child by acting worse than the child!

Ali:  Love her.

Mary-Jo:  So glad to hear about a so called parent getting “disciplined” ! Love, love, love Melissa!! She ROCKS!

Tammy: Much Respect to MM

They are shooting on Frederickson Blvd today (The Battleship exit), and can expect to see Melissa McCarthy and her co-star Susan Sarandon on set.

Under The Dome is in Currie, NC today.  Eastbound and Down is in its final stages of pre-production.
