THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 06/29/2015 Rumors from the Lot

Okay, it’s time for Rumors from the Lot! Soooo, apparently we had Netflix sniffing around Wilmywood for an untitled original series starring one of my favs, Winona Ryder. She will play the character Joyce in this supernatural thriller. The story-line follows the disappearance of a young boy in the small town of Montauk, New York. They are looking for a September open and an October production start.

Now, that being said, they are of course waiting for you know what—the damn film grant mess to be sorted out. If the NCGA doesn’t get it together soon, they will move on to another state. And you know how it is, once they experience how great Wilmington is due to incredible film crew and location, you know they will come back for more! I will keep you posted on this one.

Under the Dome Ratings and One Word for Season 3

Although the two-hour season three premiere of Under the Dome was down 38% from the season two premiere, they still crushed the competition. Our Wilmywood shot show had nearly double the viewers than the other network rivals. So, we should still be pleased with the numbers. UTD garnered over 6 million viewers.  Not bad for its third time around.

From time to time, I contribute to the Community section of Entertainment Weekly regarding all television productions filmed right here in Wilmywood. Since we haven’t had much to talk about TV wise for months, it was great to be able to write and capture video for this awesome magazine.  My work is online only, but I still get pretty pumped about talking about filming in our awesome city!  So, whether you have seen the premiere of Under the Dome or not, here are the cast members attempting to describe season 3 in one word.  Enjoy!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 06/18/2015 Bolden Wraps, Adrenaline Sold Out, Dirty Dancing and more.

dirty-dancing-1

After Dirty Dancing popped back up in the Production Weekly, I only scratched my head for a moment wondering if they would ever breathe life into this project.  It’s been on hiatus for a while. Over the past few months they have switched out writers and producers and last that was heard was that the project was shut down.  But Hunter Ingram over at the Star News got the news that the Lionsgate project had filed for an extension.  They had 100 days from approval to do so to be able to use the grant money. It’s still quite a mystery on when production will begin, so I guess we will keep Baby in the corner until it’s time to come out and play, or dance if you will.  READ STAR NEWS ARTICLE NOW

Adrenaline

I feel there is no point in telling you this bit because, hell, it’s SOLD OUT! Which is great news however. Our NC Indie, Adrenaline, starring John Schneider and quite a few local folks like the fabulous Michael Rosander, is showing at the Lumina Theater at UNCW tomorrow night.  If you are one of the lucky ones to get a ticket, have a great night!

Museum-logo-v3

Ready to get a first look at the Wilmington Film Museum?  This will include a peek at early Wilmington movie theaters, a brief history of filmmaking across the state, Dino and the birth of the studio, plus a walk down memory lane circa 1995. Casual dress, drinks and apps for all – and some awesome film history!  It will be at the Hannah S Block Community  Arts Center at 120 S 2nd St.

NC Senate wants only $10M in NC Film Grant

Well, we’ve been waiting to see what the Senate would do with film for their budget.  While the House gave $40M per fiscal year, the Senate wants to keep it at $10M.  That’s according to Sen. Harry Brown, who is speaking at budget outline press conference.

Now the House and Senate will battle it out to see what number we will actually get.

Jonathan Kappler says the NC Senate Appropriations subcommittees will meet at 4pm to review their portions of Senate budget. The whole budget will be posted tonight.
Stay Tuned.
