Under the Dome is allowing EUE/Screen Gems to tap another stage for the studio tours this weekend. This Sunday, THREE of the stages used for Under the Dome will be on view. That’s a first for Screen Gems—three stages!

I can’t tell you what’s on the stages because it changes so much from weekend to weekend, but here’s a rundown of what I do know:

When they started the tours this spring, the house from ABC’s Secrets and Lies was part of the tour….now, it’s being transformed into something else….and you may or may not see it this weekend, depending on what happens with shooting today and with weekend construction. But it’s likely you’ll see it as they move forward!

Stage 4 has multiple sets—and they change them all the time for Under the Dome—this will be on view both Saturday and Sunday—THIS IS THE NEW ONE WE HAVE ACCESS TO THIS WEEKEND, both Saturday and Sunday.

Stage 7 is not available to see on Saturday, but you can see it on Sunday. It houses the iconic UTD diner, The Sweetbriar Rose.

Stage 8 is changing constantly….you’ll be able to see how UTD is using it right now on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tours are Saturday and Sunday at 10am, 12pm and 2pm.  GET DETAILS NOW

2nd AC injured on set in Conyers, GA.

According to multiple sources, another major incident occurred on the set of Sleepy Hollow, the television series that filmed in Wilmington for the first two seasons.  The Fox show moved to Conyers, GA for season 3 due to the lack of film incentives in North Carolina. First thing this morning while unloading trucks on location (just south of Conyers, GA), a 2nd AC was backing into the road pulling a camera cart and got hit by a generator being pulled by a stake bed.

One source said that the trailer pinned her foot and rolled up her leg, breaking both bones in her lower leg.  EMTs responded immediately. The complete extent of the injury is unknown at this time. That sounds EXTREMELY painful!  Wishing this lady some serious good vibes, good pain meds and a full recovery.

I was told that filming resumed after the accident, but they dropped the stunt that was up first thing this morning.

This is the second major incident that has occurred in the past 7 days while the show is trying to complete the first episode of the new season.  Last week, a female security guard was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. READ STORY NOW

Please note, I cannot confirm the accuracy of any of these details, as I was not there, but multiple sources have reported the same details. So, just tellin’ ya what I’ve been told folks.

NORTH CAROLINA – $4 MILLION IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE
AS PART OF NC FILM INCENTIVE

Today, North Carolina has opened the application process to award $ 4 million in immediate funding from the NC Film Grant.  These are unused funds that were returned from the previous funding cycle earlier this year.  Applications for projects are being accepted beginning today through 5pm on Friday, August 7.  Click here to learn more about the qualifications and the application process.

Regarding future funding for the NC Film Grant Fund, the North Carolina Legislature has yet to finalize the State Budget for FY 15/16 and FY 16/17.  We expect this process to be completed in the next two months.  At that time, we will release further information regarding future availability of funds and the application process.

Meanwhile, film and television work continues in North Carolina with seasoned crews, exceptional facilities, diverse locations, and great weather.  So Just Relax, and give us a call today.

The NC shot Paper Towns took in $12.5M at the box office during its opening weekend.  It was released in 3,031 theaters nationwide.

The Choice is returning to Wilmington for some reshoots next week. They will be here for about 6 days. I believe it will be Benjamin Walker, Teresa Palmer and Maggie Grace coming into town. Sorry Tom Welling fans.

Catch Under the Dome‘s Eriq LaSalle on ABC’s The View tomorrow at 11am EST, where he’ll be chatting w/the ladies about acting, directing, and being an author.

Rachelle LeFevre took some time from Under the Dome to volunteer this weekend with Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity.  She was among 20 folks who worked in the Love Grove community Saturday as they build a new house.  READ STORY NOW.

Dean Norris is right behind her as he will also be taking some time to help to give back to Wilmywood this Thursday at the Cape Fear Literacy Council’s Literacy Luncheon.  Tickets are still available.  If you attend Dean will be hanging out afterwards for a meet-n-greet.

Horror strikes on Sleepy Hollow location in Georgia

image

Sleepy Hollow, which filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina for the first two seasons, recently moved (due to the lack of North Carolina film incentives) to Conyers, Georgia. Their first week of shooting was this week and a horrific incedent happened to a female security guard on Day 1.

According to the press release…

“She was sitting in her (black 2007 BMW 328i) when she was approached by two black males with their faces covered, one wearing a black bandana and one wearing a red bandana. They forced the victim into her own vehicle’s trunk.”

After joyriding with the female in the truck of the passenger car, the two suspects forced her to give them the PIN to her ATM card, and they withdrew money from the Bank of America, 1088 West Avenue, Conyers.”

The suspects then sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

“The victim was finally released on Johnson Road and the suspects drove off in her vehicle toward Flat Shoals Road,” according to the press release. “The victim walked to Texaco (located at 1410 Klondike Road) where she called police.”

The News has the complete story.

I can’t even fathom what this poor woman went through.

Many crew members here in North Carolina heard about this story this week and not only were they appalled by the heinous act, it gave them another reason to wish Sleepy Hollow never left. Many believe that this kind of thing would not happen here in Wilmington, North Carolina.

We all hope that is true. But of course we never want something like that to happen to anyone, anywhere.

We are sending good vibes to the victim and to the cast and crew. May this never happen again.

UPDATE: Kidnappers arrested!

PROOF: NC Film pumps money into the economy

You want proof that the North Carolina Film Industry creates revenue? Just ask the state’s own Department of Revenue who have released the numbers.  As one crew member said, “This official state report PROVES that film in North Carolina pumps money into the economy…and lots of it!”

http://freepdfhosting.com/43f96e6e17.pdf

The report above gives you an exact look of how much money was spent in North Carolina via production companies and exactly how much each production got back.

The NCDOR reports from 2005-2014 all in one PDF (above).

The last page illustrates that in 2014 film productions spent over $241M in the state and got back just over $60M.

These numbers come from the state, not any bias party. How much more proof does one need?
